Jh00 wrote: | Well, I will sorta write a mini review of the game, comparing it to RT3, things that usually isn't mentioned in (payed) game reviews. :
1- There isn't any more sand stations or repair stations: you must pay a fixed maintance cost evey now and then;
2- Placing a station is much easier now: as you drop track and stations, the city buildings reallocate themselves to allow the construction, so you don't need to make weird curves to match - just place it and the game handles the rest.
3- There are 3 sizes of stations, and when you build one near a production site (farm, oil pump etc.), it is called an "annex", and there is one annex for each of those kinds of buildings (handled automatically);
4- The game is very beautiful, and there are lots of details, for example: in a farm annex, you see the cows being loaded in the train. You can even see the station bell or the "train driver" signaling the departure (gosh, my English sucks);
5- There are 3 levels of difficulty for laying tracks: easy (trains use the same track); medium (trains will stop when the track is already in use, but will move through other trains if takes too much to move) and hard (will stop indefinately);
6- There is no more half loded carts - either you have a full load of something or you don't.
7- Now you have traffic lights (although they are handled automaticaly). Just lay a track into another one and they will appear, either 1 way or 2 ways.
8- The game is certainly slower than RT3 - I would say it runs like a medium map in Civ4;
9- It is easier to spot supply and demand on the map: just click a station and on the borders of the screen you will see little signs pointing the way to other cities where prodcuts are needed or supplied;
10- The time lapse isn't so fast as someone suggested. I think it is quite the same as RT3 (haven't played it for 1 year though). Couldn't find any settings to change it.
11- You can customize keyboard shortcuts;
12- You can't choose the material of the bridges you built;
13 - When you build a new train, the game automatically picks the newest one - but you can pick another one instead, if you choose.
Other than that, the game is basically RT3.
Cheers. |
Most of the things are true, but the thing is that economy modes is sooo simplefied, that it hurts! Example: evry city has lets say 5 passengers, and they will travel wherever u take them! There is no way to storage materials, whitch leads to overcowding of ur rails and makes this game totaly stupid! Shame!

One thing that I find highly enoying is the fact that the game appearantly translates to dutch when playing from a dutch PC (even tho my OS is english?). I can't find any settings to change this and I am certain I selected english in the installer (but I guess that option was to select the language used during installation)
Anyone know a way around this? I'd like to play the game in english, not in crappy dutch.
