For our non german speaking community !! (babel)

Gears OF was "(MGS): The Microsoft Germany GmbH stands, as in the past, to the received self obligations and recognizes the USK as instance for the age marking of plays for the German market expressly on. With the international version of the play title "Gears OF" for the system Xbox 360 was the Microsoft Game of studios became from the maintenance software self-check (USK), which promotion association for youth and social work e. V., which refuses age marking in accordance with §14 of the protection of children and young people law. Therefore the Entertainment & DEVICE division of the Microsoft Germany GmbH will not publish the title "Gears OF" for Xbox 360 in Germany

A special version for the German market, the one technical and contentwise change includes around an evaluation of the USK too received, is not possible after consultation between the developers and the USK without fundamental interferences into the Gamplay of the play. The expectation attitude of the players in Germany was not any longer fulfilled by such deep interferences to the high level of the play and the compatibility of the versions among themselves via Xbox Live one was not no more ensured.

For this reason in Germany "Gears OF was will not appear" for Xbox 360 and for the German trade not be orderable."

lol MS is so stupid! They could release it anway. The worst thing that could happen is that it gets on the index after some days/weeks/months and even then adults would still be able to buy it.

Of course we didn't get Dead Rising, but it's no problem, you just have to order your games from Austria or the UK here. But these laws are pretty stupid as they even prevent me as an adult from buying these games if i wanted to.

Do you know how big Germany is? You can't just "cross the border" unless you live close to the border to begin with Rolling Eyes

Anyway, you guys in Germany can still import the game from other EU countries anyway. It's an inconvenience, but it's not the end of the world.

Uhm no MS is to blame since no law forbids them to release the game anyway! They are just cowardly little bitches of the USK. I thought only Sony acts like that.... Not that I give a shit about it - I would never play this game in german anyway but the truth must be told!

I think you can't sell games here anymore wich have no age classification. And since the fsk refused any classification the game can't be sold, sounds like state censorship to me. But i don't care, i order it in the uk anyway.

Are you talking about Germany? Of course you can, that's what I said two times now. Remember the El Matador Games Convention Edition for example? It also had no USK rating. As I said before, the worst thing that could happen is that it gets on the index and even then you can still buy it if you're at least 18 years old.

I havent bought a game from a retail store in a long time, but it was rather difficult finding stores wich sold indexed games, and i live in a big city so that was not the problem. I've been ordering my games online from the uk for years now so i don't really know what the current situation is like.

I did order from them twice, but both times it took them forever to get it here. I usually order at amazon.co.uk because they are the most reliable ones and the dvd's of older tv shows are really cheap compared to our prices.

@Weedo: I didn't know that, might have to check that out, can you recommend any online stores?

i got back from an industry thing tonight and had the chance to play a little of gears of war and some multiplayer call of duty 3 so if anyone wants any opinions on the game ask some questions. Got to say that the graphics are sick, there's gonna be some jealous PC owners in a coupla weeks asking why their gefore SLI 7950's dont have games that look this good. The thing that really blew me away is just how much damn detail there is in everything. Its one thing seeing direct feed vids or cammed gameplay vids but good lord this game hasnt been done justice yet preview wise. There was no noticable framerate issues i was aware of, wether that will become more apparant later down the line i'm not sure but the build i played is final...it is gold, maybe they mentioned that already i havent checked the online press in the last coupla days. Te multiplayer is sick fun, and i got a quick go at the single player, as you can imagine time was limited with people jostling for a go.

Also...i got my hands on a PS3 for the first time, not a dev kit but a real PS3 itried motorsport and Resistance fall of man the builds we played are farily recent (at leastthats what the guy said) The PS3 looks nice in HiDEF but nothing i saw even came close to gears of war and that was running in 720p i think, i coulda heard him wrong but i'm sure he said 720p. Dig the PS3 interface tho some parts of it are pretty cool.

Im surprised that you mixed a Tony Hawks game in amongst that lot Nailbiter, I know that game is a fresh title in that it looks like a racer in the style of SSX on skateboards obviously but last time I looked they seemed to be having problems creating anything either original or all that great. The series had essentially lost steam as witnessed with American Wasteland, not a bad game by any means but nowhere near good enough to warrant purchase if you owned any of the other TH games.

Im just interested in your thinking Nailbiter, have you played a demo or saw some footage that made the game look worth getting or is it just an impulse buy/your looking for something a little different?

You might want to check out the demo, they revamped the game and made it more realistic. I'm so glad they got away from that cartoon bullshit!!
