Chris Sawyer is a legend, if you don't know who he is you're probably too young or weren't a gamer say 5+ years ago or so.

There is this small unknown game Rollercoaster Tycoon. It was made by Chris.

In Addition, Frontier: Elite was ported by him to the PC. And he is an ASM god. RCT engine was coded 95% in Assembler.

I've been gaming since the days of the C64. I dont understand how they expect to sell more copies by putting some programmer's name in the title though; seems like this guy must have a huge ego to try that.

Man, this is almost as bad a reincarnation's of the sims. Like they couldn't have updated the graphics. It's no wonder I rarely buy games anymore!

its because chris sawyer developed the game alone without a complete team like other games. only the music is made by another person so why not use his name for his selfmade game?
@ hardcore310
shure you can buy crap like transport giant with new graphics but lame gameplay. at locomotion there is no need for a 3d engine or better graphic because its simply perfect.

Perfect? I played transport tycoon back when it came out. It was a great game then, but to say it's perfect still is a big stretch.
"You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door. There is a small mailbox here."
Somehow, I think i would rather play zork 1 with no graphics than be tortured with these pixelated blocks.

I can't believe Chris Sawyer fucked up this gem! Am I doing something wrong or is laying track like using a word processor from 1979? Is there an option to click and drag roads and track to be built?
Nobody can be expected to click 10 buttons to lay down each tile of track - what am I doing wrong?

That is just the way you need to lay tracks, just like in RCT(2)
I've got a small question...
Anybody got this problem? :
On the very first level, the Steel Mill doesn't seem to work.
I supply it with 10t or 15t coal and ore each month... but it just doesn't start to produce steel.
Bad crack? or am I doing something wrong?

Well the Steel mill works over here...
But if you havent collected steel yet from the steel mill it stops delivering steel on the station.
So for you te get steel put a new station near to it and let a train wait until full load there...
After a while it should get running again...
Hello

Thanks for the info, but it is a crying shame. That's the achillies heel of being a single developer, you don't have any perspective on your own creation. If even one TransportTycoon veteran played this they would have clued him in. 'Chris, LESS TEDIUM is good, not MORE.
10 years ago I was laying rails and roads with a click of the mouse. 10 years later it takes 100 clicks. Real good, slim. Real good.
