Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Goes Gold

CALABASAS HILLS, Calif., Sept. 7, 2004: THQ Inc. (Nasdaq:THQI) today announced that Warhammer® 40,000: Dawn of WarTM has reached the gold master stage of development and is entering manufacturing. The highly anticipated real-time strategy (RTS) game for PC is based on the world of Warhammer 40,000 - the dark, futuristic, fantasy universe from Games Workshop (LSE:GAW) traveled by millions worldwide. Developed by THQ's Relic® Entertainment Inc., Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is scheduled to begin shipping to retailers worldwide on September 20, 2004.

I think there was a MMORPG project about warhammer:40k as well but it was canelled from some mysterious reasons...

Demo Coming out today:
GameSpot has news that they will be debuting the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Demo, allowing the chance to sample Relic's now-gold real-time strategy game based on the Warhammer tabletop series. The demo will be a 319 MB download, offering a single-player level as well as two multiplayer skirmish maps. As noted in this forum post, there will also be "a very special treat included that you will have to see for.yourselves."

Damn, demos are getting bigger and bigger by the time. it's 320 mb, that's a lot comparing to demos 2 years ago...not to speak of MOHPA which was 500mb.
Good news tough, I hope to see a great game!

a large demo can only be good though (unless they use bad compression) a. it means your getting a decent amount to play about with b. because its only a demo and a very limited amount of features are available offers lots of prospects for the full release. c. its free and because its online u can have a lot of fun with it even if u dont get ur hands on the full version

Damn! i've played it for 1 hour, and finished most of the demo and I must say I'm impressed.
It has nice gfx, not as detailed as Ground Control 2 but still good detail for a strategy game.I like the Warhammer world very much, and the game has plenty of it! from morale to taking cover. The action is nice and fun, the animation is good and base building is excellent. I'm was really imprssed by the demo.Waiting for full version;)
Btw, the intro movie was super!

I played for a while, its good but I think its one of those games thats gets boring after a few days... at least its a good time of until RTW and the rest of the biggies somes out
