and in this way you still get bugged 1.07 version instead of 1.08 one

i have little problem with the game,
I'm lvl11
i have 60 points of ancient knowledge
10-20 learinig points
about 20k of gold...
130 mana
and if i try to learn something that have connection with mage, for an example, poison, lighting bolt, weak, it's says to me that i have not meet prerequisites for that.
I've learned, shield parry, smithing, mage staff fighting, untill now. I can't even learn "fast learning" in first rebel camp... I wanna play like Mage but i don't know what is the problem....
any1 know what to do???

You need more ancient knowledge. Spend your learning points on Ancient Knowledge. Mages can offer to learn you. For quick learning (if i recall correctly) is at least 100 ancient knowledge needed.

it tells you the prequisites for any learned skill if you hit TAB then click on the icon thats a figure.

don't you need at least 100 ancient knowledge for even the most basic spells?
in any case.. don't waste your time...
i wanted to play as a mage too... but it is NOT worth to waste LP on magic..
why? well it takes about 10 sconds to activate any spell (as far as i have seen all spells take the same time to activate) and if ANYHTING even nicks you while you cast your spell faills... which means that after something starts to attack you will NEVER EVER be able to cast ANYHTING... well unless you run away far enough that the thing stops following you... but when it does casting anything is again worthless becuase there is nothing to hit.
has anybody managed to use combat magic in this game?! i mean the spells look cool.. and sound really useful such as the fog to hide yourself.. but then again.. you can't cast it when you need it becuase it takes 10 sec. to activate and there is nothing in the game that would wait for you that long.
am i missing something here? i think i am going to restart with a new char becuase of the wasted lp/gold.. this really sucks!
the other thing is that my mana does not seem to regenerate.. i need to sleep or drink mana pointions.. so using healing spells is worthless as well.. oh and of course they take 10 sec. too.. so don't even think og ever trying to use it in battle.. you just die quicker becuase you coudn't even run or defend yourself!
the only useful thing i have seen is the summon demon thing... it rather strong but kind of just follows behind you.. for every 20 hits you do it might do 1.. still.. good for bait...
just make sure you tell it to wait before wandering into anyone friendly since anyone else will attack the thing on on when they see it.. oh.. and don't attack evil/dead things since it will turn against you and you can't unsummon/talk to it anymore.. not good becuase suddenly it becomes really good at hitting you 
unless i have been missing something really important here combat magic in this game is a compleate and utter waste.
so being a mage sucks... magic looks nice and it is powerfull.. but only as long as there isn't any enemy around.. if there is and you even think about trying to use magic then you are already dead ..
have i been missing something? is there any way to activate spells when something is attacking you? i was fighting this horde of orcs and there where like 8 around me.. it would have been SOOO awesome if i could have cast fog and then the fire storm.. but of course after one really misserable attempt i coudn't even draw my sword anymore..
gothic 3 hates mages!

heh, i havent tried a mage yet but that sounds really awful...
have you tried holding CTRL while casting a magic??
cause if you hold it while picking something it he will pick it up instantly... seems like a bug to me but i dont care its faster lol

My mage owns, you just suck. Most direct damage spells take about 2 seconds to cast. If anything fucks with me I either blow the shit out of it with one hit from a fully charged fireball, or summon my skellie to deal with it.
I don't know why you expect to be able to take on 8 orcs at the same time, no class can do that unless they abuse the AI.

I am buying the USA version regardless of if I get and play Gothic III early, however until a group releases the latest patch/crack it is not worth messing with.
WTH is wrong with the scene these days? Fairlight and Deviance used to almost race for releases and game patches in the past. Is reloaded and the NEW razor just kicking back smoking crack and releasing stuff at leisure?

This game is one of the most anticipated of 2006, wish they would get off thier asses.

anyone noticed the utter lack of hot babes in this game? I mean the ones that do appear looks like a dude with a wig on him. They're butt ugly.
now if you play scarface, the chicks are hot! try swinging the camera under the backside of a chick sitting in a chair and you'll see what I mean. They modelled the female form very well in scarface. :/ I've sprung several times playing that game. well, actually, more like just staring at the chicks.

Yep but I don't use a skeleton, I use the Demon. He seems to cut through orcs pretty quick to me. Other thing to is that you can steal the demons sword to bad its not usable by the player and not worth selling. You need 666 strength to use it and can only sell it for 1 gold.

Hot babes?
I noticed some females in the Hashishin slave camps, the camera zoom proved very usefull there.
(No underwear either but they look like barbie dolls unless you change the texture)
EDIT: Yes i'm kinda weird...
(But I just had to try it since it also worked like that in G1 and G2)
