Sigh. If you didn't have consumerism you wouldn't have the wars we have today. Where would you get the money to fund them.

Jenni, where do you think this magical money comes from to buy these items?
Where do you think most of the products come from that you "consume"? Why is it that Shanghai is the fastest growing city on the planet? Nearly all the manufacturing jobs have gone to China.
Even most of the worlds high-tech industry is based in Asia.

1.Sure consumerism thru taxation gives money to state machine to finance itself during peace times
At war consumerism is not a key factor.
2.Wars are older than this term consumerism.Where did romans get all their golden talents to finance its armies. From consumerism?May be partially. But mostly they stole all those money from conquired nations and dug gold in mines, thus replenishing the gold, consumed by military. And how did celts financed their wars.Thru consumerism?

Hehe theres been consumerism long before even money. Tax is tax is tax. Call it a tithe if you want. But even when we had Barons and Lords we had tax. People are still taxed during war and during peace. This tax goes into armament and day to day running of the country.
Without consumerism there would be no war. No matter what kind of consumerism you look at it's still consumerism. Yes even the communists have consumerism. Because all humans believe it or not, consume.

I once worked in an avian incubator for a two weeks. On early stages you have to sort the hatchlings, who'd survive who wouldn't.You got a nice grinder beside you, where you throw all the shells and ...flawed hatchlings.I was the first creature, they saw in their life and the last.
They say, that the hatchlings usually accociate the first creature, they met after hatching, with their mother. What a nice mother I was for them throwing them alive in a grinder
At first I was disgusted, but then got used to it.
Imagine the stuff, what's happening in butcheries all over the world, where mammals are butchered for food.
But I like meat,so...the world is unfair,we are on the top of the food chain bla bla bla.
All wild animals are doomed anyway.
One day it'll be over. The overreproducted humanity will eat chemicals, and fresh meat will be a delicatesse for the rich.Untill then enjoy your barbeque . |
Whining about this horrible video has no comparison to eating meat what so ever. I have been through every beef plant, every chicken plant and every pork plant in or near Calgary, Alberta. And there is no relationship to how these pour ducks were treated. That video was fucking horrible. IF you think that your beef or chicken you ate went through the same treatment, you are mistaken. And if you actually think your meat got treated like that, and you still fucking eat it. Your a sick fuck, period. In Canada we have very strict laws governing how animals are treated before and after they are processed. I don't think i have every been in a meat plant that didn't have at least one Heath Canada Government official present as well as some Animal rights people.
People that treat animals like these ducks are sick sick people. Thank you Jenni for bringing this sick practice into light (For me anyways). Thank god i don't like duck.

We're not strictly arguing about economics.
More of an argument about society in general.
Seeing as I'm Sociologist with a degree I think that gives me the upper hand.

I never said that. I said taxes comes FROM consumerism. You spend money, be it some foods, clothes and well just about everything and the government takes a slice of that.

No not only have I quoted myslef, but also have used bold font and added missing words to accomplish the sentence logically.
I always take with irony those on-line confessions about degrees and scientific achievements. It's not that,I dont' believe you,but
1. Disclosure of personal info on forums with not quite friendly people will always backfire at you somehow on certain stage.
2. Degrees in social science don't impress me at all.The only degrees, which deserve the efforts and real respect, are those in natural science.(little exposure: speaks somebody, who has unfinished (as yet) degrees in both parts).IMHO,of course.

I think, you are lying about your visits, boy.I've never been to slaughter house, only in avian incubators, and piles of dead birds is not something extraordinary there. As for the smell, the stench is always awfull in such institutions. The pussies, that made this vid, probably had seen such stuff for the first time and got sentimental. Those are not even mammals.Let's cry over sufferings of mammals at least, not over some mutated Dinosaurs.Otherwise you can go fishing, catch a fish, kill her and then kill yourself out of quilt for, what you have done.

Frankly speaking it looks a little disgusting, but shall I protest over it?No,I don't give much shit. This is the way,the things are.
