sweet jesus just saw this on bluesnews
http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=51333

DNF will use the doom3 engine. Crazy stuff considering DNF development started on the quake engine and moved to Unreal Tech. Dude they must have spent so much money on this game. It better be good! =b

BTW im sure there is another DNF thread out there but this news is just too crazy to tack on to that.

DNF was probably cancelled many years ago and now they are having fun spreading rumours about it.
I mean... to swtich so often between engines is just insane. It wont make any progress at all. So yes, in a year or two we are gonna see another rumour saying it has switched to unreal 3 engine.

When they ran the story about the engine change, they ended it with "Attempts to contact 3D Realms for comment were unsuccessful as of press time." The news story was posted 35 minutes after I received an e-mail from them requesting confirmation.

Gamespot, I apologize. Your e-mail came in at 10:04pm and I was working elsewhere in the building. I will try to be more accessible to you in the future."

a quote from 3D Realms' George Broussard saying that this is the result of some confusion, and is not true, the story going on to clarify that DNF is using a 100% in-house engine.

no, this would not be cool, they should stick to the engine they currently work with and finish the damn game. Changing engines like your underwear only delays the game further.

And i finally wanna kick ass and chew bubble gum again Smile

I thought he was talking about Doom 3. If he's talking about DNF then it's pointless because they haven't released any screenshots at all since they scrapped all the art and started over from scratch. So only 3DR knows what it looks like now.

In the latest PCZone there is an article on DNF, and in that article a 3DRealms developper states that they use the Unreal 3.0 engine.
