yeah so im getting a psp tomorrow from my friends. i think the fw isnt gonna be more than 2.5. So im wondering how do i make play homebrew and stuff? I saw that i could update to 2.71 and make hombrew work but how exactly would i go about doing that.

id suggest you stick to the kiddy pool before u try to swim with the big boys. look into downgrading to 1.5 and using the 'devhook 0.46' program, instead of messing with custom 2.71. it'll run all games, give you all the features of 2.71, and its safer.

ok well i found this app called xtrusion easy downgrader, 2.71 -> 1.5. So i first have to upgrade to 2.71 but that wont be hard right? Where can i find a 2.71 upgrader. Ok devhook though looks really hard. Does anyone have like a faq or step by step guide to help me?

yeah so i just got it. its 2.6 and i looked but theres no green motherboard on the back, like those photos. So im thinking its fine and not a ta-082
|

yes got it to 1.5. now im trying to figure out the fuck devhook works.
edit:
so i got this pack by chaoszero called devhook ultimate installer v1.1.
installed it blah blah.
so now i go to game and then to memory card yet devhook doesnt appear why?

how much space does it take up, cause i got another version to work but its like 50mb big.
ok got that version and its 20mb but is there any way to change the background in 2.71, that background is plain crap. Also is there a way to make it so pressing home and start boots the psp back to 1.5 mode.

But you already have a shortcut for getting back to 1.5, it's called the power switch.  |
