Noooooooo! Its happened! I thought all the performance and graphical issues i've been reading from you guys were select cases.
At 1600x1200 the game runs at around 15-25 Fps all maxed out. There are tons of distant flickering textures and shadows who are unsure whether they are shadows or not. Not to mention the game dumps you off starting on a very unimpressive level.
This is lame, whatever I guess i've gotta play it like this. BTW im using a 1900XT which completely destroyed Chaos Theory no problem but this game seems to bring my rig to a halt.

And you can also say that the prev-gen. SCDA is much better gameplay-wise (check reviews for specifics). AI, for example is much better on prev-gen than on cur-gen.
Next installment is XB360 and PC only with UE3. Hopefully, Ubi Montreal will be developing it, so we could have a much much better experience.

That good eh? I`d heard it`s shite compared to the current gen version.
So it`s worth looking foward to my new PC next month then eh? | Haven't tried current gen version yet but the pc version is amazing. Graphics, Soundtrack, Story, Missions.. everything is perfect. The JBA HQ missions are so intense... it's crazy. |
I totally agree with Dazz on this one. The underwater effects blur and the snow still trickling down the hatch in the tanker...amazing.

does anybody know if there's anyway to rip the soundtrack? o.O or will I have to buy it, lolz. The main menu theme is teh sex... reminds me of battery theme from Chaos Theory.

I just wanna ask you guys, can you control Sam during the skydive near the beginning? Because you can in the 360 version.
If you can't in the version you guys have i'd guess it's a beta or something.

Well, from what I remember, Sam jumps out of the plane and *whooosh* he and his buddy are in water. No skydive...

Well i'm only on the Africa mission for the 360, so I can't comment if theres another one later. But on the snow mission you get to control him during the skydive, and deploy the parachute. Not sure what happens if you don't deploy it.
Being able to control him doesn't really serve much purpose, but it's a nice addition and helps with immersion.

Just tried with the addy posted for the patch...looks legit ubi.com bla bla bla, but get this when I run it.
Could not retrive instalation folder instalation aborted.

if i disable the next-gen in the options menu , will i have the same version like xbox and i am not talking about the graphics ( one mission was cut from it becoz it req next-gen so they changed the story but like all can read the xbox story is way better )
i need a answer from some one that finished with next-gen and without it .... and yes i mean the pc version

Yeah you can control Sam when he skydives... not on the first mission with the other agent but the snowy tanker level you can.

That's odd. For me it's working 100% now. Here's what ive found.
Antialiasing added to options
Frame rates are MUCH more consistent
Textures are fixed and perfect whichever settings you use !
The game doesn't randomly crash in-game / menu / startup.
Game returns to menu screen much faster (without crash)
Editing the .ini for 1920 x 1200 works perfectly in-game and during intro's

It was the limitations of the Xbox and ps2 that meant they couldn't have that particular level (the african one?) it wasn't anything specifically next-gen. Just the memory limitations i'd guess, seeing as the level is huge with tons going on. Any PC meeting the minimum specs is well beyond the older consoles, so there is no reason for them to take it out.
By the way, the reason the games are different is because they we're developed by different aspects of UBI. They wanted a game catered for the next-gen consoles so they developed them seperately. It's the fact that one development house is better then the other, in terms of integrating story, that lead to them being so different in that respect. It's a shame it turned out like that, with neither game reaching it's full potential.

Tell you what. Im getting sick of Nvidia and other graphcis card companies, and game developers jacking eachother off under the table. The day i buy a 300 quid graphics card just because one shitty company forced sm 3.0 in their game to soak money from a graphics card company is the day Mencap open charities for adolf hitler rememberance.

That explains why the gfx need slight tweaks from level to level. Wait til you get the cruise liner level - maxxed out....8fps.....
This game is still going to look great in a couple of years time. The level of detail that's gone into this game is astonishing.

Splinter Cell: Double Agent by Ubi Soft Montreal - retail v1.00 -> v1.01 patch
Current Release Notes:
- This patch fixes various issues when playing online. These issues mostly concern invitations and squad features. Some disconnection issues have been treated as well.
- Some minor single-player issues have been addressed as well, especially for the anti-aliasing feature.
