The point being that it is nearly the same graphics engine when things have changed so much in last 5 years!! From the screenshots we can see the same bugs from 5 years ago (a helicopter flipped over on it's rotors for instance without damage).
So if the bugs aren't fixed then hopefully they have done something to make it feel like it is a new game ie. new graphics. Nope. The environment looks barely any better.
This looks like a glorified mod. The only thing obviously improved is the higher polygon count on the weapons and the skins :/
I was gonna pre-order this game but now I will wait for sure.

They improved a lot in the engine itself. The whole rendering system has changed, you have streaming terrain, object instancing etc. Maybe BIS aren't the best artists in the world, but they removed a lot of very annoying annoying engine limiations. The game might not look too fantastic now, but we modders got a very reliable base now to start enhancing this game. Ofp nowadays can't be compared to ofp when it was first released. I've actually seldom seen a game that was so enhanced by mods... Same will happen to AA.
If I want to buy Arma from cz any of u know a shop who sell it in europe? ( there is a stringable to edit to have most of the content in english from cz rls, this subject is posted on the bi forums)
I don't know czech then I can't undestand most of czech sites... if anyone can help it will be appreciated.
Ah well - for the ones who ditch this game due to its graphics, tough luck! Im 100% sure I will love this game, the first one was incredible...and as somebody said, its enough to check how good mods was made for the first one to realize how big this game will get. To bad about the SF though..
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.
Not really, Daggerfall is better than Elderscrolls..Age Of Empires 2..AvP 2.. and several others.
So this statement isnt always true (unfortunatly its mostly true)

I wasn't interested in improvements to graphics. Run Operation Flashpoint today on the highest settings and tell me a game that looks better than it with that kind of scope and fidelity. You can't. So my bone isn't with the graphics. My problem is the underlying gameplay mechanics appear to be the same.
If you'd have asked me to describe Operation Flashpoints feature list before the game was released, I couldn't, so in the same way I can't be specific about what I was expecting in improvement either.
But we'll see soon enough, no point bitching about it. Still the user videos show the game in a good light and even if it is just OpFlash 1.5 it will still kick ass.

I get your idea now. Its safe to call this game an ofp 1.5, I agree on you that there aren't any elemental changes. I guess your thinking about changes like they want to introduce in game 2, like dynamic campaings, dynamic environment etc. Though I don't think the gameplay mechanics of ofp should really be changed, much rather just enhanced, since, its the gameplay that made us still play the game 6 years after its release (And surely not the grpahics ).
Ofp had bunch of mods,addons...,that fully convert the game close to what ArmA now is.... try FFUR 2006+new islands texture+new sky+effects+new vegetation....i have that game since 2001 and still playing (ffur ) every week multi with my friend...my game nr. 1
Half Life 2's mod community is large but it's not had anywhere near the same impact as Half Life 1's mod community.
True - but thats abit of my point. There might not be incredible visual improvements on this game, but I still think it will kick arse and draw attention from the modders who worked with OFP.

Yeah I wasn't expecting change for changes sake, but improvements. As an off the cuff example what about dynamic aim like in games such as Vietcong where you can peek over ridges and where the gun reacts to objects in the game world.
I also wasn't impressed with the way the AI approached the town in that user video. By not impressed I mean; it's the old AI (which still impresses me to this day even though some people don't like it's bird flock mentality).
What would have been better (perhaps!) is the ability for changes in AI sensibility when approaching/entering towns so that they use all available cover llike the military would but at the same time change formations in relation to the scenery. That'd require scripting and so on. I'm not asking for it to adhere to it 100% but be able to reference it.
I don't know.
There is a huge list of what they could have done or added, big and small.
The point is that for the most part I don't see a great deal new or fresh.
Which I'm at pains to point out won't stop me enjoying or buying it but is a 'disappointment' (if you can call it that).
another video from shadak... AI vs AI, they're actually acting surprisingly smart there. The way one soldier goes first, checks out situation, then gets followed by another, grenade usage, the leader is taken out first (the guy with binocs) etc.

Hopefully I'll have some time to make another 2nite. I'd like to capture more complex fight
Good videos, as I said; game is going to kick ass. That second one from Cartoon is a real nice video as well, nice music and good selection of shots. Just no action unfortunately.

Maybe but if I was the other AI they'd all be dead for running out from cover like that
