Can you take a screenshot with those mods running in highest detail? I am curious how OPF looks after all these years.

You can see here High Detailed screens. Ppl get some good addons and turn AA and AF on in their video card setting, also use dxdll plugin and some other graphic improvement mods and may bit photoshop too. But Some of them are really amazing

Although that was funny it showed pathetic game physics. The tank would have just run over that vehicle like a tin can under a fat American.

lawl, read this then:
--
Quote:
VBS1 is an infantry training tool, meant for use by government agencies and civil services. It is NOT a game, has no campaign and even the number of single player missions that come with it are few and limited.

VBS1 is nothing more than the game Operation Flashpoint: Resistance, with a handfull of extra scripting commands, that allow saving data for after action review. If you think it looks better than OFP, think again. The graphical engine is simply 100% the same. The only difference is the soldier model, which has a bit more detail. All features look very much like the ECP mod, nothing more.

If you want OFP with the same (or better) detail as VBS1, and even more features, here is what you can do:
1) Install OFP Resistance
2) Install a feature-enhancement mod (for example ECP, EECP, FDF or y2k4)
3) Install and use the new International Infantry model v2.0*
4) Install Your favorite add-ons
Optionally, you can also install Kegetys' Direct3D DLL.

*IntInf II is made by the Lowlands Warrior team, and should be available by the end of April 2005 from http://llw.the-dropzone.net

Believe it or not, but by doing this you will surpass VBS1 from a gaming perspective!

So why is th military using VBS1?
1) It has an AAR (after action review) option (you can use a VCR if you want to do this)
2) It has an observer module for the insctructor
3) BIA developers offer customization a a service
4) The Operation Flashpoint license prohibits the use for professional purposes.

In short:
The military is NOT ALLOWED to use OFP and simply requires extra attention, because soldiers usually don't want to bother expirimenting as they have a job to do.
So consider yourself lucky, and fire up your OFP game!

I also wasn't impressed with the way the AI approached the town in that user video. By not impressed I mean; it's the old AI (which still impresses me to this day even though some people don't like it's bird flock mentality).

What would have been better (perhaps!) is the ability for changes in AI sensibility when approaching/entering towns so that they use all available cover llike the military would but at the same time change formations in relation to the scenery. That'd require scripting and so on. I'm not asking for it to adhere to it 100% but be able to reference it.

So if you don't like the AI then create your own modified AI, if you read interviews/previews about the game you'll know that Arma features AI FSM that allow for any type of AI creation and AI behaviour........

I haven't followed the development fully, bits and bobs over time. Sounds interesting but do you have a link to what your describing so I don't have to go searching?
