SC:DA causes a complete computer freeze and requires reboot during the LAUNCHER... managed to install by exploring through the cd and opening setup.exe manually, now it happens from either the autorun or the launcher itself. All drivers up to date, SP2, 1.01 patch, etc. etc. I can get the online portion running by starting SCDA_online.exe and it seems to work fine but the offline executable gives another weird error - "Crash" messagebox pops up with **MUST CHECK** and then a runtime error. I've tried everything I could think of, what's possibly causing the whole computer to become unresponsive during something as simple as the launcher? No one else seems to be having the same problem Sad

(edited title for the more significant problem)

My PC doesn´t lock up or freeze, but a few people here (incl. myself) have the same problem with the "must check" error & the following Runtime error when starting through the launcher (.exe doesn´t work either).

My specs are: ~AMD 64 4400+/Nv7800GTX with Det. 84.25/Nv4 Ultra Mainboard/2 GB Ram/Audigy 2 soundcard/DX9c Oct.

Have tried almost anything, but this is the first game in ages which I can´t get to run. Sad

There's a thread on ubi.com support forum of other people w/ same problem: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/954105331/m/2261025105

No solutions yet, I tried starting the .exe with -log like one guy suggested and it stops with the following:

Warning: **MUST CHECK** Failed to load 'menu.unr': Can't find file 'menu.unr'
Warning: **MUST CHECK** Failed to load 'Level None.MyLevel': **MUST CHECK**

It's not a bad install, tried that twice already... hate when this kind of thing happens...

Ok guys, got the same problem yesterday.

But now it works, so i'll explain you what i've done, and I hope you can solve your problem.

I ran DIRECTX and EAX4 setup manually on the dvd, I copy the NO-CD , and I launched the game with the shortcut.

BUT, if i tried to run the sp4.exe directly, the crash error came back.

So i dunno what really solve my problem, but now it works.

PS: for info, my conf :

A64 X2 4600+
2048 Ram
7950GX2
Nvidia F 91.37

Progress... sort of!

The Launcher-freeze issue comes because it's set to realtime priority, which is way too high for any desktop application... so I changed the shortcut to start it minimized and have the taskbar open before running it, this way I can catch it and lower process priority before it locks everything up. So now SP seems to start fine through the launcher but gets stuck in an endless loop of playing the first two intro movies (Ubisoft + Tom Clancy logo) over and over and over...

Well at least it's a different bug this time.

Someone at UBI Forums said, that this would cure the "must check" error:
"All you have to do is add -ll to the target line of the shortcut, and it loads up fine."

But how the heck do you do that? It always gives me an error when I try to change the target line and add "-ll" at the end.

Now I have another weird SCDA problem.... this game seems to be a greater bug orgy than Gothic3

I am in level 3 (home of john browns army) and the cutscene where you shall (not) kill the hostage is about to begin....it starts, you see the camera moving to the hostage...and then _nothing_ happens. the cutscene seems to stop and you cant move, you can press any key and nothing happens, you can move the mouse and nothing happens, the game doesnt react to ESC key...it simply stops

I reloaded, started again and again...always the stop at the same place. but it has not crashed , I have to kill it in task manager to exit

any suggestions?
