2099 doesn't work. On my test machine, after a restart (less than 24hrs after install), minutes counter has added 5 minutes. That's it. Bloody hell!

after taking ownership, you'll have to add your accound to user list and grant it full control.

duplicatev 10 pages before wrote:

access denied means your winxp account doesn't have permissions to enter the directory. all you need to do is go in security tab under properties, click on advanced, go to owner tab and set yourself as an owner. then in the user list add you account and grant it full control.

DigitalHex. Your method does not work. After 36 hours it leaves you unable to access the control panel.

I don't think there is anything new in that. Seems like a fancy menu for all the available "pretend" cracks. Seems a bit lame to me.

well that's the reason I don't think it's likely. I'm sure there have been a ton of crackers working on this hours a day and it's been about 2 weeks since the release. If there is no crack now, what else can these guys do?

So far I've had a rather interesting (and annoying) experience with upgrading my RC2 to RTM..
Not wanting to format my F: partition where RC2 was installed, I opted for an upgrade, to be told that I do not have enough free space available for an upgrade.
So, I delete some stuff, reset my BIOS clock to 2099 and upgrade. No problems until the dreaded 48% file corruption error aborting the installation, so I reset the clock to 2006 and reboot into XP to copy the Vista install files from the DVD to my hard drive.

I reboot Vista RC2 with the BIOS clock set back to 2099, and guess what? I recieve a black out screen telling me my license has expired and will only let me run RC2 with limited features, Having a legit RC2 serial, I reactivate it following a reboot with the clock on 2006. No go, will not accept. Being able to get into a Help and Support window in blacked out Vista, I manage to get into the task manager using embedded help links and use that to run the Vista installer, following a reboot and changing the clock back to 2099.

It upgrades fine, no problem.
Switch the clock back to 2006 in Vista RTM, and run the VBS command.43134 minutes left.
Reboot.
43183 minutes left.
Genius. Smile

THe only thing that puzzles me is that Vista RC2 ONLY stopped working after the second reboot, having swtiched the BIOS clock back and forth once.
It ran fine on 2099, but as above, rebooting it as 2006 it ran in limited mode, refusing to activate.

This would explain why people cannot activate Vista RTM uing the workaround crack and an RC2 key after doing the 2099 trick; Vistas date system is very strange indeed.

Initial thoughts on RTM are that it boots slower than RC2 but seems to work fairly well with most application I use.

Will be keeping this one. I hated XP, it lacked a solid permissions base and a proper GUI. I still wish SUSE Linux 10.1 would work better with my hardware, but having Vista installed eases that frustration slightly.
Thoughts?

Try running slmgr.vbs -xpr. Does it display you a date exactly one month ahead from the current date?
