For all those that dont know this tool is used to update XP via your browser from a private server instead of M$ server. This way you can get updates securely and not have to worry about connecting to Microsoft servers to do it.

Me and a million others can perfectly well download updates through Microsoft. But you have to go with a 3rd party app, Autopatcher is the only one.

Autopatcher is basically a large collection of Windows updates, registry tweaks and other optional things in one installation. It makes it a million times easier to update your system with all available Windows updates, especially when you have formatted/reinstalled Windows.

Yeah it's about 300mb, Jenni. WGA is optional, along with pretty much everything. You have total control of the installation.
lnatan25, there might or might not be an autopatcher for Vista depending on:
Quote: | 1. AutoPatcher releases are only meaningful when there are lots of patches. I guess we'll see if Microsoft will live up to their reputation on this one
2. With the WGA madness still going strong, we'll have to see if administrative patches keep their current form, or maybe evolve into something I'd rather not characterize, ala Windows Media Player 11 and Internet Explorer 7, which of course would mean that they could no longer be applied offline.
3. To work on an AutoPatcher release, we usually need a test-machine. Vista is supposed to be quite an upgrade from XP/2003, so we'll have to check if it even runs.
4. Next, we will need Vista to test the release on. And I'm not upgrading anytime soon (actually, I won't be upgrading at all) |

Lol, like he's gonna use original Vista anyway...
Well, thanks anyway. I hope WGA is cracked in a way that would allow updates.

Because a) feds often jot addresses and can't make out where they were supposed to go, or
b) because there are many documented cases of feds breaking in, on some masturbating kid who downloaded windows patches with an improper cdkey?
Grow up!
