To me stalker looks average, but still impresive even after few years. In case of the tire, yeah it wasnt that good, but you could see that it just blows up and pieces are flying away really fast, why i dont know, but its sure is not realistic. To me the graphics look very nice, even awsome. But i wont be seeing it in the full beauty because im not gonna buy a dx10 card just yet. Also the video was kind of low quality, if you watch the dx10 flyby in hq the evnironment looks impressive, dont know how it will look on an average computer, but hopefully not worse than farcry.

STALKER looks like shit compared to Crysis. It is obvious that it has suffered graphically because of all the delays. The first thing you notice is the lack of normal mapping, lighting quality seems very low at places (and Im not just talking about shadows).

i am thinking of getting mid range card like 8600GT when it will be around..i guess it wil cost 150-200$...and i will replace my 66ooGT. big games like crisis and project offset and alanawake , will ask for strong cards..it will run well on older cards, but if i am about to buy new one' i will go for directx 10 crad:)

Of course it might run well on older cards, but then again that means you will have to sacrifice graphics for performance.

Stalker sometimes looks very nice, but only sometimes. It really shines and looks photorealistic in urban areas, but vegetation sucks big time. Because vegetation requires higher polycount that the engine cannot render so fast. The only thing the devs can do is to create physics like in HL2. Hl2 had crappy textures, but physics were shining.
I wonder how frozen area looks like in Crysis. We've seen only few seconds of it and only in distance. Also you will be able to throw barrels at other players in SP and MP.

This new vid doesn't even showcast crysis' full technical ability because it merely shows a MP map. Sp maps have much more details and physically interactive elements, they don't need to be balanced to avoid lag issues like mp maps, where speed is what counts more.
And yeah crysis is what I'm going for when it comes to graphics, but Bioshock sure looks incredibly well done. The first game which I feel deserves to be a true successor of Deus Ex.

Yea, Bioshock definitely got it with graphics, but if you look at the shootouts and the ragdoll system...arrrrr! No damage textures, no F.E.A.R-like particle effects and the ragdoll puppets are cheaply flying through the air screaming like in games from 2002. Its finally time for the devs to inplement realistic, loud, effective and (yes) violent shootouts with death animations+ragdoll, cause thats whats really making a good shooter. (see: SOF2, F.E.A.R, Crysis, Stranglehold)

There are still vehicles models in the game, but you can't drive 'em anymore. However, the code for the vehicles are left in the game, so people can easily mod it back.

I'm sorry, but this thread has been going off/on-topic for a long time. Besides, you won't see Crysis until Summer 2007 earliest. They haven't even entered alpha stage yet.

Alpha -> RC = +/- 6 months usually.

It's not out for at least another 9 months! I thought it was due out in march or something. I wasn't that impressed with the video which showed the multiplayer map, did you see the way the car just went straight through the bushes, I though Crysis had eliminated that kind of stuff.
Also, they keep making out that the whole environment is destructable, but i'm willing to bet the larger structures can't be damaged, even with a rocket launcher.

No, they dont release it yet because its probably not finished. Who wants another bug ridden game, which 2006 had lots of. I hope they polish it well, and release it when its really done. BUt i also i believe you need vista to run dx10? And there is only one card right now that supports dx10, 8800 series. When it is finaly released we will have several dx10 cards so at least some kind of a choice.

Yes you need Vista for dx10 but you dont need dx10 to run crysis since it will suport both.

Yeah but if you want most out of it, you do need dx10. THe gameplay is probably just like in farcry. Crysis is boasting so much about their graphics, i hope they wont forget that gameplay matters too.
