How do I get Enterprise? |
Separate download, I'm afraid. Enterprise isn't included in the regular DVD.

Thanks lnatan, but can I upgrade still? Or do I need to reinstall?
And the real question: Where do I download it? I'm assuming its an official download...

You can't upgrade, a new installation is needed.
You can get download instructions from your volume licensing agreement documents.

There are some distinct security features that are unique to Enterprise and Ultimate, so if you've decided to go with Business (ie. no media features), get the Enterprise, it's better on every level.

Ok here is what I did.
1. Disconnected my PC from the internet by removing the network
cable .
2. Installed VM Player "VMware-player-1.0.3-34682.exe"
3. Extracted the server files from the "Vista_KMS.rar" file to my Documents under ":\My virtual Machines\Vista_Kms folder
4. Modified the "Windows Vista (experimental).vmx" file with windows notepad and added the following lines right at the top
tools.synchronize.continue=FALSE
tools.synchronize.restore=FALSE
tools.synchronize.resume.disk=FALSE
tools.synchronize.shrink=FALSE
rtc.startTime = "1164286430"
and saved the .vmx file
5. Used VMPlayer to launch the .vmx file so that the virtual machine is loaded. The virtual machine needed a reboot to adjust to my real machine processor.
6. Changed the "Ethernet" option to "NAT" from the top of the VMplayer window. Rebooted.
7.On reboot, the virual machine asked me to "Set Network Location" from 3 options "Home" or "Work" or "Public Location". I chose "Home".
8. Then from the virtual machine Control Panel I turned off Windows Firewall for the Virtual Machine. Rebooted virtual PC.
9. I turned off firewall in my main real PC.
10.I ran the command prompt in the virtual PC and typed IP config in it. My IPv4 IP is shown as 192.168.145.128 along with other details
11. I launched the command prompt in my main real PC with "Run as Administrator".
12. I pinged 192.168.145.128 from my main real PC command prompt to check whether it can connect to my virtual PC IPv4 IP.
It can connect properly with zero percent packet loss.
13. But when I type
cscript c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs -skms 192.168.145.128
I get the error message
Quote: |
Error 0x800706BA occured in connecting to server -skms.
Error description: The RPC server is unavailable. .
|
What am I doing wrong ? I didnt try to update Windows Vista at all, and have no intention to update it at all too. This is a fresh install of Windows Vista from the legit MSDN Edition that I have installed as a Business N Edition with the key
**DONT POST CD KEYS HERE** - [sYn]
So what could be the problem. Can someone please help me ?
TIA

I have no idea, but I've read a certain release of business doesn't work. Have you tried to set it up so it works with your real IP?

In CMD prompt, type slmgr.vbs -dlv and make sure vista has it listed as KMS client.

Stupid me solved my problems. I installed the Business N Edition of Vista, that was the problem. Formated and installed Business Edition , and NOT Business N Edition, and then offline activation worked absolutely flawlessly with the KMS server image. Oh and this time I used VMWare Workstation on a clean install of Vista Business, and not the VMWare player.

Now i have an activated and italian Vista version. What is ATI waiting for to release proper final drivers?
Vista is avaible since 30 November it's their duty to release immediately final drivers.
The same thing for Nvidia Nforce platforms and AMD drivers.

Its there duty to release final drivers before the actual release date which is sometime in January. Not to release drivers as soona s they recieve vista. They will be released before vista is officially released |
The official release of Vista in 30 November for companies. |
Companies don't need fancy graphics drivers to fully use Vista. If you were to say that top retailers are releasing PCs with Vista now with the currently horrid driver support, you'd have a point.

Why don't you guys just use the Beta crack for Ultimate and wait until there's an offline crack instead of using this tedous KMS crap? You'll have time until 5/31/2007, and I'm sure there'll be tons of working cracks by then.

how about when MS ends beta activation and you need to reinstall vista? OR how about the fact that it's just cleaner to do and ultimate does not have anything that better software can't replace?

MS ends the Beta program on 5/31/2007, hence my mention of the date. If anything, KMS-activation is the less cleaner of the two because it has more steps that must be followed. You'd have to install a large number of third party programs to do what Ultimate does, thus defeating the purpose of the installation being "cleaner."

And once you've reached 5/31/07, couldn't you use the command prompt: slmgr -rearm and extend it until 8/29/07 (30 days x 3)?

jonloovox: You can use a public KMS server and only need to execute ONE step to activate, replacing activation server with remote one. Don't enter a key in business or install enterprise. No mods, no vm. Vm is only for people who want to activate locally, making public KMS server the cleanest, and as long as the server stays up, it will auto-reactivate every 7 days. Beta trick is weak!
