I predict...
England 0 - 3 France
Switzerland 0 - 2 Croatia
then the english fans will go on a rampage after seeing their team destroyed by a superior team causing england to be banned from the tournament. Hooray!

England 1 - 2 France (Zidane & Henry)
But it wouldn't surprise me to see them draw, not very smooth starts I don't think by the teams yet - probably just the effect of group games.

Greece wasn't really a surprise, Portugal have been awful in the run up and only a fool would underestimate them.
I could see the penalty they conceeded from a mile off, anyone else notice that C. Ronaldo was on fire after he let the ball go and ran all the way down the pitch I hate it when footballers (particularly Beckham) do this as it's helping no one and in this case just makes things worse.
Determination is one thing, stupidity is another
I think the ref was a little too active in the cards department though I agree, Collina did better in the Greece match.

Good Game tonight .... france vs england....
its gonna be a good match . two completly different styles of football!!!!
England is a good team but at this moment france plays much better.
France is playing modern and very fast football and on the other side england is england , no comment ... they live in they own world. So tonight france is going to win their first game on this tournament.... it will be a pitty if they lose.....

well im down on the bottom of the world where we dont really give a shit about soccer and find it boring so i cant say i really care..
BUT
i tried to like soccer.. i tried i tried ! but like our national game here is rugby (Which funny enuff was invented by a guy picking up a soccerball in a game and running) and compared to rugby soccer just seems... kinda.. kick to one end.. lose the ball... run to other end.. lose the ball.. guys falling over and crying when they didnt even get touched lol.
I mean i watched greece vs portugal and was still bored to tears..
So my question is..
Do soccer teams play a REALLY different type of game than each other or is it all pretty much the same ?
I mean for example.. England in rugby play boring boring rugby while every other team on the world has alot more flare and take more risks.
I dunno.. i suppose living in a country where no one cares about soccer and we only have been to the world cup once.. its no suprise lol

what a game
I was on the edge of my seat cheering them on and it's fair to say that the England defence was like a rock (ledley; what a performance from someone so inexperienced at this level) - but they never retained possesion and a freekick was inevitable... and so too was the goal from Zidane I'm afraid
Amazing game, maybe not technically and the forwards on both teams were not biting but it was definately exciting.
nice save from Barthez, and Rooney (who I hate for his aggression) did great as well.
I know this will be turned into a steal for France, but the truth is England weren't really doing much in the second half.

Portugal and Greece wasn't the best game to watch, unless you are Greek.
You will have to spend more time watching the game to pickup the various player and overall team tactics, and remember a lot happens off the pitch as well behind the scenes - so while it may look simple, or Rugby and American Football chaotic - there is an order and tactics underlying everything
Especially helps if you play it personally, that way you really know.
But yes all the teams play different styles of football, England in fact are considered boring on the national stage also and most of the time it's not far off being right (it's getting better tho).
You get teams like Real Madrid & Arsenal who play very fluent and attacking football across the ground with skilled players like Zidane - and in South-America (Brazil & Argentina certainly) even the lesser sides play this kind of football.
in England the lower leagues are like riots and there's always too much physical contact (you might like this though being a rugby fan ) and in the Premiership the teams are mostly fleshed out with foreign stars - none of the big clubs rely on English talent except maybe Newcastle (though Talent is a debatable term )
but to be honest the overriding factor is whether or not your going to give it a chance - it's like people who dismiss American Football simply because it's American - and while I can't stand the americanised TV coverage we get the game is something I can appreciate.
hope that helps, bit rushed

That's gotta be the wierdest match yet to be played. I had hoped that France would win as they had the ball most of the time. Also played better, but England is still a good team its just France thats a tad better.

I am of the opinion that football should be entertainment. England sat back and defended when they should have attacked and got punished for it.
England were poor. They produced nothing. They got lucky with a set piece and France's superiority came out on top in the end. France were all over England in the second half and got exactly what an entertaining attacking team deserve.

Yes, in the second half England were defensive but as a defender myself I enjoy watching GOOD defensive play. It worked as Rooney (who I hate) almost scored on the break.
Strange that u've forgotten that England were the better side in the fist half. Perhaps u were watchin the game through French goggles?
