Damn, I really loved the demo. It was sweeeet. I haven't played such a good rts since Ground Control 2. I really like the idea of catching those strategic and critical points (the same thing that I liked in GC2), makes you move from your base not just sit in it and build your army.

This is a damn good demo, I think it's even better then ground control 2, it's got more character, the upgrading system is better and ofcourse the warhammer 40.000 world is just very cool.

What I really liked is that you can assign heavy weapons to every unit, giving the unit unique power every time.

Ok guys, Orcs and some other units are actually playable in the demo:
http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=36247&page=1&pp=15

some of the guys at the relic forum found a way to add the hole stuff to the demo Very Happy

Quote:

i used the .SGA Archive Extractor to get access to the W40kData.sga file.

The Orks:

In the directory Data\attrib\racebps edit the file ork_race.lua (Windows editor will do fine) and change the line
GameData["race_details"]["playable"] = false
to true. You can do this to the other races to but there are no models for Eldar or Chaos and if you try to play the imps the game will crash instantly.

The Terminators:
In directory Data\attrib\spbs\races\space_marines open the file space_marine_squad_terminator.lua and delete the following lines:
GameData["squad_requirement_ext"]["requirement_table"]["required_2"] = Reference("required_ownership")
GameData["squad_requirement_ext"]["requirement_table"]["required_2"]["own_name"] = "relic_struct"
GameData["squad_requirement_ext"]["requirement_table"]["required_2"]["owned_count"] = 1.000
save and you get the terminators.
Same for Landraiders and Squiggoth.

probably because it is a faithful adaptation of the popular tabletop game. the tabletop version is a very expensive hobby/game to play, as well as time consuming.

i look forward to playing the single player campaign in this one.

really wish they had just done the epic rules; i mean, if they are going to let you field that many units in a game, they may as well have let you use Reavers, Titans, and yes, even the Banelord Titan.

i may buy it, but not until it costs below $30.

i just bought 2 copies of Ground Control 2; sux cause i get online and so far there has been no more than 10-15 people playing.

i should have just waited and bought battlefront or warhammer 40k.

The demo had great visuals and is worth seeing. Best story to come out of a rts game in years. Nothing has depth like the wh40k universe.

This game will rock. I love seeing the whirlwinds firing indirect fire. Get 4-6 in a line and have them fire one after another. Just great.

Uhmm.. since when is it available? U have a pre-release copy? Nice sources I bet! Heard its 3 CDs and DOES NOT CONTAIN the idiotic SF3! The Mod community, btw, is releasing some crazy shiet for it:

o Dark Eldar (muhahah)
o Grey Knights (more a division than a civ but still cool)
o Imperial Guard (which are apparently already in just non-playable!)
o Necrons (my best civ - just reeking with coolness + how the heck can ya not love Undead Robots awaken from a million year sleep?)
o Tau (Robotech anyone? Mechs and all else great about robotics!)
o Tyranids (think Aliens + Starship Troops' Creatures = way cooler!)

The above are the more important ones but of course there are others. Lots going on in the W40k:DoW community!

RTS' these days aren't inovative (even Kohan 2 and Rome: TW are sequels with similar gameplay ideas.) Perimeter kinda tried but it was poorly recieved. So peolpe have started to Judge them by character and general feel. Gameplay (tried and true as it is) takes a back seat.

Question for those who might know: Is there any sort of Scenario Editor included with the install? Or if there is one fourthcoming following the release? I can imagine many great mods possible for this game, should the proper tools be provided..
