Yes, I thought that was the right one. But looked and looked but no download link on that particular thread. I guess you have to login to see download link? Oh, well.

What do i have to do in order to install Vista X64? I have tried to start the setup in XP and Vista 32 but an error message said that i could not run the setup on that operating system. I have tried also to use the windows disk like a boot one but it stops without starting the installation process.

Maybe a faulty download? If booting from the DVD doesn't work, I'd say that's the problem.

If you are trying to install Vista x64 with the winbeta release, you start from XP with two different installs, labelled x86 and x64, you have to choose the one that suit your current system, it is only later that you will have to chose which kind of Vista you want to install (either a x86 or x64 version). PostPosted: Sat, 30th Dec 2006 17:29    Post subject: ViSTA? No need (atleast for now and maybe a half year++)
OK i finished to install and activate my ViSTA ENTERPRiSE and played around with the OS... for hours!

My conclusion is that i just no need ViSTA cuz Win XP iS BETTER (imho)!
sure vista looks good like mac os x but only cuz win xp (in original state is outdated) is from 2001!
the sidebar and mediaplayer crap that is built in is just a filler like all the other crap thats making vista 4 gig huge or should i say FAT!?

there is only one thing about vista that is maybe better cuz u are running vista with not the full admin rights in original state (xp is for me only useable with full admin rights, cuz my tools that i use need admin rights!) so the software developer MUST prepare there tools for "only" user rights.
but the virus autors will find a way sooner or l8ter cuz windows is the majortarget on the virusmarket (sorry poor MS Wink ).

but if u know how to work with an os u dont need to fear about viruses even with full rights (just dont use the standard tools that ships with windows and dont klick on everything Wink ).

anyway i have my xp pro license (genuine) so i dont need to care about vista cuz its not better then xp.

lets see...

MS has stated many times that the reason Vista is on a DVD is the huge drivers pack that is included with it, so cheap morons with 3-4 years old hardware would still find it useful. That's why it's "fat".

About UAC, bla, it's the most useless thing in Vista, and the most annoying. I'm waiting for someone to find a way to somehow slipstream a hack to have it disabled by default. Other than that, Vista is better than XP in any way possible. Just name it, and I'll shoot you with proof. And don't say compatability, XP was the same when it came out in 2001.

It's funny that there are so many drivers, when there's no decent driver support for current hardware.

Vista = FAIL.

I also think fisk should be unbanned.

thats also a point...

HELL even the EiST / Speedstep mode to throttle my core2duo cpu dont work in vista (in xp it works like always)!

@ Inatan25 u say that vista is fat cuz the drivers... hmm so they accidentley forgot to put in the core2duo driver Wink LOL

MS' job isn't making drivers... Blame Intel for that. Told you not to give me compatability crap. Half the things weren't working on XP when it came out in 2001.

UAC is annoying for those that want to have at all time all credentials and full control, dunno how it will be deployed for -and accepted by- the average joe when they will release Vista publicly. At least it is easy to disable.

Otherwise i want a slipstreamed vista install too! Mr. Green

I guess you have submitted your request on Nlite forums?

Spoken like a true fanboy. Vista isn't all a bed of roses, and there are plenty of counter arguments to you claim.

A lot of business organisations and non US governments are concerned about a US OS that has a "kill switch" built into it that can be remotely switched by a US company with a license do this whenever they want built into the EULA.

What is the actual reason for upgrading to Vista, apart from a fancy theme? Is it more stable than XP? Faster?

More secure, but I don't give a shit about that, never had any security problems with XP.

The only reason why I will upgrade to Vista is DX10, since I'm a gamer. Otherwise I don't see much point, it's a big moneysink.

Have to agree with you on that, WGA is a hell born demon and it's integrated so deep into the code, that it can't be just removed. Yeah, it's a major draw back, but when you don't activate, WGA doesn't pop-up, lol.

And I'm not a fanboy, I just like a good product when I see it. Nothing wrong with that. You'll never hear me diss a linux or a mac OS.

Irregardless, it's the main reason why people don't get Vista.

I don't, because there's no support for my chipset, my soundcard, or my perhiperals (scanner, keyboard (G15)) etc.

And the drivers for my new ATI-card are still in beta, which makes the games have graphical glitches, and the FPS suffers.

To me, VISTA behaves like as if it still was in beta-stage.

Well, sure, you can't use Vista, but you can't blame MS for that, nor can you say Vista is not worth upgrading to based on the absence of drivers. We all know everyone will move to Vista soon, like they did with XP. Many said it's just 98/2000 with skins, no real reason to upgrade, many things don't work there, bla bla bla, and they all moved to it.

True bud...
Vista is the Windows everyone must move over to now...
This is why Microsoft bought alot of stock in Memory Companies...

The problems I had was Vista had no idea what my SCSI Card was...
So I used Win2000 Drivers and it works great now... Smile...
Same with the Sound Blaster...I got everything working perfect, around 99% perfect at least...he he...

There are no Windows 2000 drivers for my hardware. Only XP-drivers that refuse to install under Vista.

Blame your hardware manufacturer if there is no driver out for the 30th september... I have only a generic USB2.0/sata external hard drive that still don't work under Ultimate x64.

Anyone else got a crashing Solitaire on Vista? It won't even start, just crashes...

Aero seems to shutdown right after Vista loads to desktop... Even though it worked with RC's. Anyone else got a problem running Aero?
