i wouldnt worry too much about gear, all ppl look for now is a lvl 60 that is transferable and has an epic mount , thats a good start if you meet those requirements .
what you can do is with the new pvp system is get the epic shoulders , they look pretty pimp on horde mages ....
I dont know how easy european mmorpg players are on spending cash for those things , i would reckon at least 250$ if you really got bad gear .

Agreed, not true at all. I stink bid on ebay all the time and win. I picked up a 50cc pocket bike for $80 dollars shipped, and its new. I have bought over 15 X360 games for all under $30 shipped, and all new and sealed. Heck, i have seen many PS3s sell for around $350 to $450 shipped.
The diversity of supplies is great on eBay, for example a DIY test kit if you suspect your partner of foul play:
