I had this problem when i reboot, the PC boots up really fast, but MSN and Inet took forever, maybe 40-50 sec after all other app and stuff where loaded. Went in to msconfig and ticked off prog after prog until it booted as it should. The culprit was Diskeeper. does someone know a remedy for this.
I am running DK 2007 PRO, tried switching off "Automatic Defrag" and "IFAAST" still the same, as long as DK loads up with XP it totally delays my Inet connection by ALOT!

ya ditch the program and try O&O Defrag, they have 5 different levels that you can defrag your HD.

Just a prior warning, O&O works on boot of the machine pre windows loading.. it takes over your boot sector.. which means if it fucks up, your boot sector is fucked and you will need to either re-install the OS or the bootloader!
However, I've only known it to cock up once, and it was easily fixed doing a re-install (needed re-installing anyway, so thats the method I chose).. I had it on my own machine for a long while with no issues, same with a number of my friends.

Cheers for the warning [sYn], 11 min to go  Have a Dentist appointment at 8 a clock here...Ouch! will try it out directly when home. Running Arconis True Image, i guess that would help if things go tits up. Thanks guys.

Boot from your windows cd and run fixmbr, you'll have it fixed in just 1 minute time.

If you use xp there is progs boot log analizeror boot time analizer smth like this theres alot of them, they show time it takes for each program in autorun to load since pc started, try one of them.
I use diskeeper and it works fine.

did that but nothing really works always some kind of error and some files still missing from volume, so you have to use recovery tool or restore backup MBR that resides in middle of disc (more info ntfs.com), @active parition recovery (or other prog by @active) can restore it.

@MikiMouse...i wonder if it has to do with that I am running RAID or something. Its like Diskeeper is analyzing the HDs a long time before anything that has to do with my Inet starts...no idea why, but as I said, as soon as i deactivate Diskeeper everything works perfect, so it must have something to do with the way DK starts up etc etc.
EDIT: Will do a test using Boot Analyzer, will have to deinstall O&O and reinstall DK 1st but...back in a few.
EDIT II:
OK this is the LOG files with
"DISKEEPER" http://www.savefile.com/files/389918
"O&O" http://www.savefile.com/files/389920
For me its not conclusive other then again with DK it takes forever and with O&O its FAST!
I did not alter any other proggs then these 2 for this test.
If someone with more knowledge have the time to sift through the LOG files maybe i can get a definite answer.

so...O&O ran better? I personally defrag everything using "access" if you read the different levels under help it explains teh difference of em all, oh and also, the screensaver that comes with it is actually a defragger, it works as a screensaver while defragging. quite cool

Cheers SpykeZ. Well O&O just works, so i stick to that, i am sure DK does a great job as well (did the defrag etc for me if it wasn't for the boot up delay prob) Yea "access" is what I have run to.

Still ltakes while for your messenger to start, maybe you should uninstall both O&O or Diskeeper and try or disable all progs from autorun except messenger if takes not so long keep returning programs to autorun one by one and look when load time for messenger increase again, then you get idea what causes this.
But if you fine like this ok, i would also write to diskeeper corp for answer.

Well, I might...maybe later today, atm O&O just works fine and that small delay (a couple of sec) for MSN to start up I can live with. Cheers for your suggestions guys and for all the help.
