Firstly, lets get something straight, no matter how crap it turns out to be its going to sell by the bucket load. It's an apple product and just like the iPod, even if it is a substandard product with a huge price tag, people will want it.
Personally I love it. I'm not a massive fan of the product itself, I think the iPod/Phone mix is a mistake as it increases the cost 10x and I don't think the whole world wants a phone/walkman mix. I do however love the fact that it runs OSx, the screenshots I have seen look to be what MS Mobile should have been years ago, less windows and more functionality! This for me will be the only real drawing factor for me buying one, but I'm still hoping for a budget version without the added crap that I don't want.
I guess only time will tell.

arse. Its at times like these I wish IT companies would pull the head from ass and realise that people require certain things. If the Iphone had the functionality of MS Mobile and the usability of OSx it would be a solid winner in the market.

It runs OSX but it can't run third party applications. Erm. Yeah. I'll get a nokia with Symbian OS. Thanks. |
That really is surprising... Bad choice from apple there!! The best thing in a $500 phone is all the applications you can install.

It would have also been nice if it had a built in GPS, so they could have integrated it with Google Earth. I really think Apple could have done much more with this.

Oh, It's like an Ipod is it? Then don't go boasting "OH BY THE WAY IT CAN RUN OSX. But heres the catch, You can ONLY BUY OUR APPROVED SOFTWARE. No homebrew for you!"

I think it looks rather sharp. The only thing that turns me off is how old mr. jobs seems to think its the second coming. He has been bashing every handheld out there in one of his latest press releases. This is leaving the same bad taste as Sonys arrogance. Its a cool product, but the PR and hype wagon needs some work.
Edit - No removable battery? This seems like a mistake, didnt they learn from the ipod. OH thats right they did, they made boatloads on battery replacements.
