Ummm.... The game is being made by F3 Games & Akella. Mistland doesn't have anything to do with Jagged Alliance 3. They still are making a similar game using the crappy Alpha Antiterror engine (it will be called "JA3") yes but it isn't 'Jagged Alliance'. There was a bit of a scandal about this in the local industry but you can't take legal actions if they want to call a game JA3 (they can always say it means "Just Atrocious 3").
P.S. Maybe it's just some cheap PR stunt after being pwned by Akella and Strategy First and the project will never be completed. We'll see.
About voices: no, the voiceover won't be done by the same actors (mostly 'coz no one knows where half of them is now )))

Yeah, well Mistland is a black sheep down here. They talk a lot, they promise a lot and they never deliver anything after that.
There were several JA-style projects announced by Mistlland but no one really knows if they do exist. The story with JA3 was that they were bullshitting Strategy First that it's being made but couldn't show anything good when the deadline/milestone time arrived.

i just tired the 1.13 mod, and it STILL doesn't fix the most glaring faults of the game which make it unplayable for me
especially the lack of a way to enter turn based mode manually and STAY within it until it's safe not to
it's fucking ridiculous that a supposedly turn based combat game turns into a reflex button smashing game if i want to stay alive at all
silent storm did the turnbased combat wonderfully
i hope they don't mess it up for JA3

The basics of SS combat will remain the same for JA3. There will be tons of new actions (sidestepping, peeking over the corners, all those traps and silent kills etc etc etc), but they aren't changing the main principles.

Cant wait. I wish they'd make a UFO game, just a carbon copy of first one with SS engine and more tech, etc.
Probably the only game id buy.

Holy cow...a UFO modern remake without changing combat to a shitty-ass realtime/turnbased hybird system that sucks ass? I'm sold. Looks really nice. Hopefully nothing goes wrong with it between now and feb.
And thanks for the extra scans...helps me believe this game might just see the light of dawn...and not be too bad to play, either. Even if it is SS engine with the JA basics, I'd be happy. If they keep the whole map sector conquering/militia training gameplay aspects intact, I might just be saying goodbye to another few hundred hours of my life. Heh.
Anyways, keeping my fingers crossed.

I think i read on the Bear Pit forums that the militia training will not be in the game anymore. A guy from SF posted a few lines about it there when those scans came out.. Either way, I cant wait for this one. I will try to find the link again...
http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=7;t=000200
Edit: Seems like I was wrong about the militia not being in the game. Either way, what that guy says about the different features is quite interesting, if they can pull it off.

I too loved Fallout 1 & 2 but was totally bored with JA2.
JA2 made it feel like your character's survival was dependent on luck. If you happen to be standing in the right spot your character would see the enemy and survive.
A game with potential but missed the boat.

missed the boat? JA was all about tactics. you were probably just not doing it the right way.

You do realize that sirtech came out with jagged alliance the original in 94? Thats 3 years before fallout ever came into being. So I'm not sure how you mean the series missed the boat when it practically invented the combat system that both games use. Of course xcom was about the same time, but still I'd say fallout borrowed from both. In no way I'm saying that fallout was a bad game, it was a great rpg-one of the best. But in terms of tactics? There is no competition.

Well, I've been there when Richard came down to Moscow to work with the dev team and I must that week (9am-20pm daily) sure wasn't wasted. He's more than serious about the features mentioned on Bearpit and the devs are concentrating all the efforts on 'em.

Well, I'm glad to hear that Strategy First took JA3 away from MistLand too. I had hoped they would after I heard the news about Disciples III, but I didn't see anything more about it.
SF should update their site though, because it still says MistLand South there and anyone with the misfortune of ever having played a MistLand game will have a very negative view of JA3 after seeing that.

If you installed 1.13 correctly, go in ja2.ini in the main folader and you'll see there 3 options, for 3 different resolutions. The default is 800x600(the game came with 640x480). you can go as far as 1024x768.
And wth are you talking about no aimed shot in JA 2? have you even played the game? Just use more action points for the attack(you know, make the circle smaller, that's the aimed shot). Also, you can attack different body parts...
