Why haven't I heard of this?? |
it hasnt been hyped at all, but there has been a full screen dvdscr out for some time now, definitely worth the watch |
Just watched it, wasn't too impressed. First of all, I'm a HUGE Bale-fan (joint best actor with Ed Norton) and he doesn't do a bad performance in this. What ruins it for me is the tempo. I'm not complaining because it's a slow-tempo film, but because it just feels wrong. First hour or whatever, Bale's character doesn't really show any signs at being the psychopath like he turns out to be during the last 30 minutes. It felt that the writer got a great idea half-way through the movie and they stuck to that instead of the original script.
Oh, and the ending was predictable as well.
Overall, a decent movie that tried to be a great one, but failed. 6/10

Children of Men 8/10 - good, but not great. Worth the watch, absolutely.
Open Season 8/10 - really like these "family-movies", nothing new but enjoyable to watch.

Well the focus lies on their struggle to get through britain, throwing in some clarity about the future of the human race would be disappointing in my opinion...

I'm about halfway through reading Cell. It's a pretty good book so far. What did you think about it?

Just watched "Babel". 9/10.
A hard film to watch because of the emotions involved but I loved how it showed that people around the world are for the most part good and that we aren't different despite the cultural and language differences.
I started watching the film without knowing anything about it and immediately knew there was no way in hell an American wrote or directed it. I went to the IMDB and confirmed it (Mexican director and writer).
I wish more "foreign" films were released in Canada instead of the flood of Hollywood candy meant to distract you and keep you from thinking.

Cell's good, but it's Richard Bachman-style King (a bit dry and hard, characters not really developed) and I presonally prefer stuff like Dreamcatcher, From a Buick 8 and the Green Mile better.

If you liked Babel you should check out his other two films thatmake up the first parts of a loose trilogy
Amores Perros
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0245712/
21 Grams
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0315733/
I liked both better than Babel ... the first is all Spanish and the second is all English...

An Inconvenient Truth 9/10 - great documentary about the global warming effect, Spoiler: | only part I didn't like was at the end when he was self-proclaiming US as the winner in different historical happenings, which was a skewed view on history. |
