Alot of games do 2 phases of beta's one being closed one being open to the public. Usually the open beta serves as a huge stress test basically so atari can make sure there servers are up to snuff by retail, also more users the more bugs/reports that are submitted.

You know what? I think there will be no second beta. There are no infos about this. If there really was that beta there would be a lot of infos on english sites like fileplanet and so on.
I did not play first beta and I would like to get the second one but I think second beta is just a rumor.

Any mmp game has an open beta/server stress test, sometimes called a mp demo (BF2142) )) The question is only WHEN will it start. - maybe 2 weeks prior to the release, maybe today...
