Just to let you guys know in case your worried about how your card will handle the game. This is what the graphics customization options in the game look.

Resolution:X
Refresh Rate:X
Brightness:X
HDR:On/Off
Anti-Aliasing:X
Level of Detail: Low/Med/High

And thats about it, nothing else. No shadow map option or car reflection stuff or texture res. All the level of detail does is change the distance at which objects come in full detail from your car and it removes some various items you wouldn't notice from the world. Thats it, not a single thing except the complexity of your rear view mirror arms changes. Going from High to Low had a huge performance boost for me with practically no image quality degration. This game on high is like driving through the forest of oblivion with tons of grass and trees.

The first demanding racing game on the planet, why its so demanding is beyond me but whatever.

Game looks awesome.. Apparently there is some hype surrounding it! 60+ pages prior to release. Hopefully this thread will get reset when there is a release.

[Edit]

NM i didn't realize there was a beta... That explains the amount of pages Smile

People have to remember that settings this game to "low" = less grass and a object or two. It pretty much runs at max detail on low medium or high.

Yeah

The 7600 is faster than the 6800GT but not by much. Not to make such a big impact as 1024 x 768 all low vs 1280 x 1024 all high with AA anyway.

I said earlier that i won't bother with the beta but i'm too curious to see how my rig will handle it so i will finally give it a try i guess. If it's released today for non subscribers that is and it doesn't look like it will Evil or Very Mad .

If you keep the game at 1280x1024 or below you can play it with HDR with a high end card. Anything below the 7800GT type performance range will crawl.

first impressions after playing for a few hours : very good, excellent FF wheel support as well.

Im playing at 1680x1050 HDR on HIGH details on a E6300@2.8GHz, 2GB DDR2-800, ATI X1900 XT 512MB

performance is great when driving, but it's all over the place when entering dealerships, homes, shops etc.

tearing is bad in places, will stick VSync on later

Well , there is an average of 4-10 FPS between the two in pretty much all game at 1280 x 1024 according to these bench. It's not much but 10 FPS can make the difference between fluid and jerky gameplay , especially in the 20 - 40 FPS range.

So yeah the 7600 GT is the better performer but the difference is still not that big. Wink

Well i can't go below 1440 x 900 (native) which is less demanding than 1280 x 1024.And i never use HDR in games because it's not optimized for the G6 series and it just kill the FPS when enabled.I prefer AA anyway since i can't use both at the same time on my GPU.

I''ll just have to see for myself i guess

Is it just me or is that comparing a 6600GT to a 7600GT?

Oh yeah and AA is as bad as HDR in this game. Regardless if I set it to 2x or 4x the performance drop with AA enabled period is big. Im still blaming it on the Vista drivers, these other 1900XT owners seem to be getting good performance but I dunno its all subjective. Playing a high speed racing game at 20-35Fps is not enjoyable to me.

yes, it would appear to support all resolutiosn available to windows.
my native is 1920x1200 but the game was suffering a bit, 1680 scales nicely though.

one thing i will say is this game seems to have every option going, lots of work has certainly gone into the options, particularly contoller ones, although some will still complain about the lack of granularity on the video quality level options.
