I just tried the game a little bit and so far it's decent.I'm playing with a gamepad and the cars are handling quite well.
It's running smoothly so far on my 6800GT (even though i haven't explored the whole Island so it may bug down later) at 1440 x 900 with graphics set at medium and 2 x AA.I don't know much FPS exactly but it doesn't feel jerky at all.
Now on to more racing

I learned my lesson in this game. Tune any A class car and it becomes useless. Wheel spin up through 4th gear and now and then 6th due to this games completely random play. Besides that you can't keep anything on the road at 260mph for very long.

Oh man, someone ought to make a damage patch for all the cars, not just traffic. I mean, the damn code is there, so it sould be relatively easy to hack the game to include damage on all cars.

Man to bad my pc can't handle the game good...Is there a way to take off the shadows or anything to lower the graphics???

Seems like a good game if you are a racing game fan. While I enjoyed the fact that it had many classic cars, what turned me off is the fact that they shove this stereotypical modern-day racing scene shit down your throat. I can't stand that. I can't stand that style, and I cant stand the music. I also have issues with the handling on the cars. Everything is way to sluggish. Even though I was getting 60+ FPS it just didn't 'feel' right.

The more I reflect on my very recent playing experiance, i'm going to have to say -
The handling in this game sucks. I don't know how to explain it any better then that. It just sucks. Anyone who is playing it would probally agree.

Yeah, I agree. The handling is poor. Maybe they'll improve it until release.

It will always be an opinion but mine is TDU is way better! Only customizing your car is better in NFS.

Things I don't like so far is handling and some poor looking GFX at certain spots. Lawn in towns looks ultra craptastic, it's just a square with a very bright green and nothing sticking out of it. And shadows from buildings are very dark on an asphalt and barely visible or not visible at all on a pavement. Shadows in towns look dumb overall. Water looks meh. Some stupid details like if you drive offroad you can see dust getting blown away in a wind direction, but if you leave tire smoke on the asphalt it stays in one stop. Most realistically done environment in this game, imo, is dense green forest with dense green grass. When I speed through it on a road it looks so friggin real. I wish all of the game looked so perfect as that dense green forest

WTF, after I enter the confirmation code to get the key a blank black page loads up, with some menu bar at the top and:
