So i am havig trouble with newshosting speed yet again.
It seems to be getting a more and more comon problem theese days, and they no longer list service troubles on there website so i cant see if it is that.
Last night i was getting 87kb/s download and this morning i am getting 200 kb/s, on a good day i get 800+kb/s normally.
Anyone else experiencing this or is it just me? as to counter the slowdowns i kept getting i would bump the connections up to around 30 (only allowed 8 ) to get the speed back up high, so i am wonder if i am being filterd at there end as i tried a file download from ati and was getting 700kb/s.
I guess giganews looks like they could be getting my money soon... or is there another host to consider.

Ive tried giga, newshosting and one other and ive had speed problems with them all - depends entirely on the time of day.. ive given up mailing them now as they insist there is nothing they can do.. with giganews i get 50% of my normal speed which is good Sad

I'm getting 300k/sec at my slowest on Giganews. Just seems to be on a weekend though.
Most other times I'm getting 1.6mb a second.

Some ISPs throttle the speed of certain services at some days/some time of day.

Yea my isp throttle usenet but only on port 119, and newshosting offer ports 7000,8000.9000 which gets round it.
As i said bumping my allowed connections up to 30 instead of 8 gets me near full speed again so it is definetly newshostings end.

Those of you who have giganews which package do you use?
Whats it like on the 20 connection package does that still experience slow down?

I usually experience a little slowdown at peak times with newshosting but lately the periods have been getting longer and more constant.
