Which is better: dual core AMD or Intel? In general, for the easier selection...

AMD used to have the upper hand until the Intel Core 2 Duo line up came out last year. As it stands now Intel is way on top, price and performance wise. I guess AMD will counter but so will Intel
Quote: | It's clear that Intel's Core 2 Duo lineup offers superior performance across the product line when compared with AMD's Athlon 64 X2. In some applications, even a lower-cost Core 2 Duo can outperform some of the higher-end Athlon 64 X2s. |

yeah amd used to be far superior to intel, because they kinda snuck up on intel while they were being lazy, assured of their own superiority. now that they realise they have serious competition in amd, intels really started working hard to stay on top.
and yeah im definately going quad core. no REAL call for it now (in many games and apps, a single or dual core will run faster) but im sure that in the coming years, more and more apps and games are going to be multi threaded...

well the new fx-70 series (or is it just the 74) is the quad core for AMD but isnt true, just two duals slapped together. And the FX-62 dual core isnt much slower so I think it's just something to get out till AMD puts intel back down.
