Seriously, what's so good about this movie? It's not even historically accurate. Seriously, they're all bare chested. What kind of a retard would go in to battle without protection for the torso, the second most vital part of the body (after the head)? Real spartans wore heavy bronze breastplates in to battle, as well as the helmets and spears that appear in the movie. Then you have the fantasy monsters and shit that the persians have. What the fuck? Also, they grossly exaggerate the number of persinas that faced off against the spartans. This movie makes it seem like there were millions of persians against the 300 spartans, when in reality there were only 100,000-200,000 persian soldiers, TOPS. And only a few thousand of those got sent to kill the spartans at Thermopylae. So the spartans only killed a few thousand persians before dying themselves, which is not that impressive considering they were at the other end of a narrow pass that only allowed the persians to send a row of maybe 3-5 soldiers, shoulder to shoulder, at a time. If there's one thing i can't stand, it's stupid cocksuckers who fuck with history because they're too dense to learn it themselves.

Frank Miller has never said this should be historical accurate... Its purely entertainment and nothing more. If you knew Frank Miller you would only expect unrealistic universes such as Robocop, Sin City and now 300...

Mutantius is precisely right. The movie is not historically accurate and does not pretend to be. This is a movie based on an imaginative comic book version of the battle of Thermopylae.
BTW, see the top picture at the wiki article on Thermopylae regarding the armor and the wiki article itself for the estimated number of Persian warriors (estimates are 200,000 to 2 million)

Yep. and it wasn't just 300 spartans they had help - the total force was 5,200+ defending the pass. Although some left during the battle. The opposing for could have been up to 2,641,610 men strong, but thats highly unlikely. Its definatly believed to be over 200,000. Goes to show you what training, planning and field advantage gives you.
