the version from gcw is 1.0 the version of the iso exe is 1.4. using a old exe as crack is more then stupid and i think that it wont work 100%

You can use the same guide I wrote in the afterlight thread to burn this game and it will work perfectly, I just did.

Ok when I first played OPF (don't remember if it was demo or retail) it lasted 10min and I wasn't sure of how the game was supposed to work, tough it was crap budget title. Only after I heard people actually liked it and became with good rankings, guess I should have tried harder. What about this one (if I never played OFP)? I guess my PC can handle it and I might try for a cracked version/update before grabbing it.

It's superb as long as you can look past the bugs and the slightly dodgy graphics, its simply the best war simulator available. It's a bit too realistic for a lot of people, so if your more of a Counter Strike type it probably isn't for you.

Someone please explain how rebels are able to pinpoint my exact location with me at a distance of 500m+ out, prone in brush, after firing a single shot in the dead of night.
There's a difference between realism and cheating AI - and its painfully clear that the devs. took the easy way out in this regard.

maybe there will be a mod that reduces their ability to locate you.. i really dont like being seen in a night mission, or for that matter in day when im hidden after firing a shot

firing a shot at nighttime sorta gives away your position id of thought in the real world, moreso than in daylight.

muzzle flash from a gun will light up your position, unless you are using a suppressor,if someone is lookin in the direction of your shot BEFORE you fire it..they WILL see the flash

No, give it time. There has to come patches to fix bugs aswell as the community of ArmA will create alot of Mods/addons for it. aswell as AI addons will come to make things alright. give the game some time.

What I really would like to know is, what kind of coop modes does this game have and does it support multiplayer over LAN, without an on-line authentication?

Just like the previous installment: Give it time, it will be fixed both by bohemia & the community.

i havent checked that out yet..but if its ANYTHING like operation flashpoint you can set up servers(ie nevermind cd keys) and play/host your own homemade missions
