Hey guys, if there's one area where I have less knowledge, it's when it comes to memory... I'll be buying a new CPU, motherboard and memory to go with my 8800GTX, and I have no idea what memory to buy...
I'll be getting the eVGA 680i with a E6600. I've read that in real-world scenarios, the memory speed and latency isn't *that* important, but I'll be happy to hear from you guys.

Yeah, too expenssive for me.. Here in IL, buying a 680i and E6600 is too much already, so memory, atleast at this point will be cheper.

Just remember if your not gonna be OC'ing memory is memory. Timings generally make negligible performance increase, somewhere between 1-6%. Clock speeds seem to be more important but at the same time anything over PC6400 is priced insanely high and really not worth it.
Those dominators mentioned above are really great sticks, provided you don't mind the extra clearance they require with the gigantic finned heatspreaders on them.
If you wanna fork over $400-500 for 2 gigs that break 1Ghz barrier go for it but when you can get that same 2 gigs at 800Mhz (PC6400) for $200'ish (around here at least) then ditch the entire mentality of "performance" memory.
/EDIT: Basically grab 2 gigs from a reputable brand that is known for low DOA rate. Put price before timings but try and not go below PC6400.

Bought the ram from a place my brother works at.
Also got C2D6300, some kind of a 965 intel mobo and a 8800GTS.
Oh, and two free 250 SATA-II hard drives, can't forget those buggers.

How the hell did you get that 8800DGTX anyway?
Aren't you supposed to be a poor student with a single mother?

Yeah, we had a discussion once (back in the day I was Inatan), and because I didn't enlist to the army, he and X_Dror said I was a rich bitch. I claimed I wasn't. Whatever...

Not really... If I was rich, I'd already have dual QX6800 (SMP ftw!) with two 8800GTX in SLi with 8GB RDRam, everything put on a nForce Professional... I don't have that.

Not a rich bitch... Just a tzfoni.
Anyway I don't know many students here who have 3500(?) NIS to spend on a graphics card.

3750... Maybe we have different standards... And the money I spent on that card were a new-year (Rosh Ha Shana) bonus from work, so enough with that already.

My 8800GTS was around 2200nis. Could've gotten the GTX for about 500 more, but damn, already spent enough money I don't have.
