uhm... nobody can ^^ |
Naa, a decent system (Core2, 8800, 2gb RAM) can run Gothic 3 on 1600x1200 with all the detail sliders maxed without any problems whatsoever.

Im just wondering, if I upgrade to a dx10 card, but stay with my current Windows, will it affect my performance? in other words how well do these cards run in dx9?

Do cards that suport sm3 run sm2 lesser good,no. So yes ure dx9 games will run faster As long as u play them on xp, if u go vista i heard the drivers is not so good.

I switched from a 7900gtx to a 8800gtx (so a Direct10 card) while keeping XP and i can assure u that all Directx9 games had a huge performance boost ! .
For example, i've been able to run Gothic 3 with all details maxed @1680x1050 without pb where the 7900 was crying |
Can only concur to that. Had a 7800GTX512mb before getting the 8800GTX. Although the 7800GTX512 is still a bad ass card

Men, I hope game developers WAIT a very long time before start making games for Vista/DX10 only. Because I don't think in buying any Pixel Shader 4.0 card soon, neither upgrade to (IMO) a "not ready" OS like Vista (I always wait one or more years for change Windows; for example from WinME to WinXP I waited almost 2 years from WinXP release (I was forced to update, similar I will be with WinVista, I hope not too soon))
I used to be a knee like you. Then I took an adventurer in the arrow.

What are you smoking ??
I don't think Microsoft won't be dropping support for XP anytime soon. I dare you to post an article or some proof.

The OS is quite good, the problem is the drivers... And the sooner the DX10 games arrive, the sooner nVidia and AMD idiots will make the drivers.

If DX9 runs like crap on them, I'm gonna take a wild guess and say DX10 will run even crappier...
