uhm... nobody can ^^

Naa, a decent system (Core2, 8800, 2gb RAM) can run Gothic 3 on 1600x1200 with all the detail sliders maxed without any problems whatsoever.

Yeah and might not be this year, either. I've read they have not even started on the dx10 patch...working on regular patches first. So who knows what will it will look like and when. Pretty sad tho, seeing as the devs were prolly the first with being in contact with ms's new api.

Cant believe how good the new DX10 functions are gonna make games look Smile
Imagine that kind of terrain in mmorpg's or fps games. Gimme Prey 2 with that!

As for the FPS Creator demo, come on. That program/game has always sucked. Just like "Gamestudio 21589 XPF" and so on. Those kinda programs always end up short.

Its like showing off Space Empires V as the pinnacle of what dx9 can do.. Just folly Smile
"Lokzorz!! Dx9 sux!!"

Get my point? Smile Dx10 will be awesome, only if the games are awesome and made with love, just like Dx9.
Not every dx10 thing will look good, just like not every dx9 game looks good.
Is that so hard to realize?

I switched from a 7900gtx to a 8800gtx (so a Direct10 card) while keeping XP and i can assure u that all Directx9 games had a huge performance boost ! Very Happy .

For example, i've been able to run Gothic 3 with all details maxed @1680x1050 without pb where the 7900 was crying Laughing

Can only concur to that. Had a 7800GTX512mb before getting the 8800GTX. Although the 7800GTX512 is still a bad ass card Wink

What i found funny with the 8800gtx is that i bought it to play Directx10 games with Vista for Q1/Q2 of 2007.... but nothing is still there Sad

But he, i haven't make any mistake since it allows me to play all the latest directx9 titles on the native resolution of my wide 20'' TFT screen (1680x1050) with all AA/AF filters to the max !

I'm almost sure that we won't see any native directx10 game (so i'm not talking about the D10 patch of COH) before the second half of '07 (Crysis or Alan Wake, Hellgate...) and maybe event not before Q3 ... and since i'm a geek, i'm sure i will have sold my 8800 in order to buy the second Directx10 card generation Very Happy (at least, if my employer gives me a good salary raise this year Laughing )

Men, I hope game developers WAIT a very long time before start making games for Vista/DX10 only. Because I don't think in buying any Pixel Shader 4.0 card soon, neither upgrade to (IMO) a "not ready" OS like Vista (I always wait one or more years for change Windows; for example from WinME to WinXP I waited almost 2 years from WinXP release (I was forced to update, similar I will be with WinVista, I hope not too soon))

Microsoft stops WinXP support soon, cause its a 6 years old OS -> Developers stop WinXP support -> Games and programs dont work under XP properly anymore -> Welcome to Vista. Very soon Wink

I don't think Microsoft won't be dropping support for XP anytime soon. I dare you to post an article or some proof.

I say 3 years and tehn i dont even thing we have (to meny) vista only by then, but more vista/xp games, tahts for sure. I take time for gamers to get a new os, alot of the mwill stay with xp and devs have to have this in mind.

Are you kidding me? The 8800 series has been selling like porn! And i bet Vista has not been selling, but downloaded like porn! Laughing
My dream would be that EVERY game this year has dx10 support and some if only minor dx10 functions and enhancements. I mean most of them will still run on dx9 for a year or two more. You can have both the cake and eat it in this case. Dont worry!

Microsoft wants you to upgrade. Isnt it obvious they want your money. They cant expect you to buy Vista if everything works fine for you under XP, and you are happy with it. Just wait and see. XP is 6 years old and they can officially drop its support soon. And they will. Twisted Evil

The OS is quite good, the problem is the drivers... And the sooner the DX10 games arrive, the sooner nVidia and AMD idiots will make the drivers.

I only have like 4-5 fps drop in DX9 games under Vista. Not a problem anyway when you have 150 fps Razz

Games and programs don't work properly under Vista, is maybe a more appropriate sentence. Anyway, I know what you mean. Going from Win9x/Me to WinXP was a lot worst.
