15 years ago, in High school, when I watched my friends pay video games, I said to myself; Once I start making money, I would buy every video game system out there and play to my hearts content.

Now 15 years later, I own the beefiest pc system money can buy, all video game systems from this gen and last, and a home theater system with all the frills and thrills, and what.

between job, family and other interests, I spend a max of 1 hour total playing video games. My kids are not big enough to start playing, my wife has lost her interest right after her first child, my friends have all moved on and look down on video gaming as a juvenile activity. Even I find myself leaning more to books and movies for my spare time...

So whats the problem? Look at this in a positive way. You can leave all this cyber toy stuff to your kids and save some money for your new car.

I had a similar experience with those radio controlled cars. As a kid I REALLY wanted one because they were the hottest thing and only one kid in the neighbourhood had one. No dice. Things were just too expensive. By the time I could afford one myself I had totally lost interest. Crying or Very sad

I have a gaming room much like you. Killer PC, NES, SNES,N64, Turbo Grpahics 16, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, 3D0, and i just recently purchased a NEO GEO AES system. And im building a new mame cab as we speak. And i searching for a Neo Geo MVS 4 slot for cheap.

And you know what, i collect them more than play them. But i enjoy collecting them, and that is all that really matter right. What you enjoy.

I dont justify my purchases to anyone but myself, and im happy with my collection, and im sure it will never be complete.

Just becasue you dont play them, doesnt mean you still cant enjoy them. I read way more than i game, but there is no way in hell im breaking up my collection.

You just look at things different as you age, thats all.

Hello hiatus ... yeah i'm living in a situation similar to yours ... i own two pcs regularly updating one with the latest stuff every 1 1/2 years max 2 years, a ps2, a psp, a ds, a couple of mobile devices, a 42" lcd main tv place and a secondary one with a 28" one, both with beautiful seatings where enjoy films, and obviously quite a number of the latest interesting role playing and strategy games ... a really heaven thinking back just 10 years ago ... i'm telling you more, i even have a wife that shares some games with me (i never though of playing some rpgs with her on a domestic lan ! instead it happens now) ... i should be the happiest man of the world right ?
And instead ? It's not so. Work and many things to do always leave me a nice couple of hours a day ... but simply even with all what i can have now it simply not the same thing as when i was young ... when, alone or in company of my friends, i spent unforgettable nights in a slew of fantasy worlds and games ... perhaps two hours a day are not enough to re-create the whole thing, perhaps i lost just a bit of interest that lowers that thing from marvellous to "just" very very very interesting, perhaps it just happens when you get older ... i don't know well ... and thinking about the future children ...

Ahhh ... how marvellous were that times ...

There are only 10 kinds of people : those that understand binaries and those that don't.
