So I just so this new laptop commercial from HP advertising it's power and the fact is has windows vista, well you know how they do it, they do some spiffy demo of all teh things you can do on nit, will I heard them quickly say record HD shows.... isn't that considered along the lines of piracy? I thought I read something some time back about the use of VCR's being a problem with recording movies off of like stars, HBO and what not.
but wouldnt it be the same thing as downloading a movie than? Lets say Devils Rejects is on tv and you record it, it's the same thing as downloading it.
It's not the act of recording that is illegal, it's the use of it. If you record it for yourself it's ok, if you plan on distributing it, it's not. Like with games: you can make copies of your legally purchased games only for your personal usage.
They can always charge you with intent of distribution. If you buy a cd, and you mp3 it, even tho you're not gonna distribute it, you can be charged with it. It's lol.
You can't prove anything to them tho You can't say you didn't. They can't check if you did or didn't. So you still gonna end up paying.
