Well it is possible that later in the game some tough monsters will drop something good, but so far i fought with the mutated dogs, rats, boars, that invisible dude and that psychic dude in the sewers, nothing was dropped so i stopped checking them. The good way to find artifacts is to check your map for secret stashes, i found one stash with 5 artifacts with +400 health.

does this support widescreen resolution like 1920x1200? would rather not waste time installing if it don't...

Trashd do you have the multiplayer portin installed? Because i don't and in multiplayer F6 is a vote button, that could be your problem.
Yeah i believe it does support widescreen, the max one i saw was 1280x800, but its probably because my native resolution is 1280x1024, so it doesnt go higher than 1280. But i defently saw 1280x800 in there.

Yes it fully support widescreen monitors.
I run it at 1440 x 900 and the FOV seems correct for 16:10 and the HUD isn't stretched (well maybe it is a bit but i can't tell as it doesn't look like it).

I don't suggest playing on Veteran level for your first time through the game, it's not really "harder", enemies just have more HP and aim better and do more damage, and you run out of ammunition faster and it's not nearly as fun as STALKER difficulty level. I had to change mid-game from Veteran to STALKER when I realized combat sucked, coz I always needed to use the pistols because it took bunch of bullets to take everyone down, and they drop the same shit as on lower levels.
Enemies are too easy on stalker level tho, they sometimes miss me with 5-10 automatic rifle bursts at pointblank, not to mention that you get way too many artifacts, health packs, bandages, money and crap.
Somewhere between STALKER and Veteran would be perfect difficulty level...but no such thing
I suggest you take stalker diff. because it's more fun overall.

Well for all those who are expecting next gen shit when it comes to AI & all the way they react. You guys are expecting way too much for a game that has been in production for over 7 years. There technology fell behind while all these next gen games have brough some of those expectations way to high. Maybe all you guys who are bitching should just take the game for what it is & not for what you expected.

you can pretty much do what you want. Though killing indiscriminantly, results in mission scripts getting messed up.
For example, I killed a guy who was attached to a mission. It doesn't fail the mission, and I just have the mission half done with no way to cancel it....... actually, I better head back to the person who gave me the mission.
I just recently found a silenced pistol, and went back to the village I started in and gradually took everyone out, 1 by 1. Apart from the guy in the beginning, because it holsters your weapon once you're around the corner from him.
Long story short, you can just go around doing what you want. It's very non linear. I was even able to speak with bandits (enemy status) because I quickly took out the good guy they were holding up.
Only issue with the game is that text boxes appear and disappear before you've read them, most of the time. I've gotten stuck in the environment a few times now. In pipes, ontop of boxes....things like that.
But I can't get enough of it, purely for the fact that you don't have to anything. You can just roam and kill. Be sure to do it quietly though, because you don't want a bad rep.
I can't wait to get a sniper rifle. I'm just gonna noob kill everything I see... he he

Need help for a mission shortly after game-start.
Spoiler: | I'm at the mission where you have to get past the military to get to the "zone", theres a tunnel where theres anomalies. Theres this kind of electricity that keeps killing me, anyone knows how to get past this?
Seems like it kills you if you walk in the tunnel. |

Spoiler: I dont know how to do those spoilers so read it if you want to know.
RubberChicken: the two ways i found to get past those guys is ofcourse shoot them but then they become your enemies, or you have to pay them 500 rubles. If you want to get through the tunnel, you have to get lucky and find few artifacts like +30 resistance to shock or whatever, and just run trying to avoid. I took them out but now they are my enemies, and they are pretty tough, so decide. [/quote]

Anyone encountered a pseudodog yet? One mission is to kill one and rip off it's skin or tail oslt, but I haven't seen a single one yet. I've searched widely in the first 2 "sections" (where you have a loading screen) but came up empty.

YES you do... You get a Mission and you go from A to B within Fencing...
So far Im still trying to figure out WTF they meant with FREEDOM inside the Zone...
The game is 100% the opposite of Oblivion which Streams the game along...
Stalker loads in Levels and your NOT able to run free lee, only within a certain path and not past a fence on the obrders of that Map or you get Radiated maximum and die...
Enemies spawn right in front of you and pop a cap in your ass...
Artifacts do they even work ??? Ive put them on, but only looks like Eye Candy... Found 2 of the +400% health, in which I never saw work at all...
The shrubs/bushes you cant shoot through...
Personally this game is only fun in Death Match...
Single player feels like DeathMatch because its just a Level that loads every few minutes away from each other...
100% bullshit hype... The biggest Ive seen in my life...
Since there is NO streaming map like Oblivion AND no 100% freedom like Oblivion...
All they did was take a little section of the real deal place and create a little house and what not, and there you are... A little map that is loaded in...
This is the opposite of what I thought Stalker was all about...
WTF did they do under the damn 5 years of creating this ???
How the hell can this take 5 years to create ???
Lazy people maybe ???
Nah, sorry but out of a 10, I give it max a 4... Only because there is no Streaming, instead loading and totally NO Freedom like promised... And Small/Medium sized Maps
This is what I think of Stalker... But I hope others think its fun...
Feels like DeathMatch with Bots/AI/Stalkers... Nahhh, not for me...
Thanks... |
hmm doens't sound good lol.
But gonna try it anyway
