OK first of all disney CARTOONS are not anime, when people talk anime they dont mean textbook definition animation, they mean japanese animation, and thats what I'm talking about.
Not being in an anime forum has no relevence, its the context of your post im argueing, not which forum we are in, I dont give a shit what forum we are in, we are talking about an anime movie, and you come and say anime sucks with no solid evidence to back up your viewpoints, so I offer a counter viewpoint that it in fact does not suck, and just because you dont enjoy it doesnt mean its crap.
I fully understand that theres alot of people out there that hate anime, and refuse to watch it, you included, but that has no relevence here, im not talking about opinions, im defending anime against your statement that it sucks.
If you had said I dont like anime, or I think anime sucks, that would be a different story, but you said anime sucks PERIOD. Thats implying that anime is not worth anyones time no matter who they are, which is entirly false, and I made that apparent.
And yes you can continue to say anything you want about anime, and I can continue replying to everything you say in that same respect...
On Samurai Champloo:
I like it, the central plot hasnt developed much (I left off at ep 11 or something), but the art, the fighting (amazing) and the characters, Its all very stylish, but its not for everyone.
Done by some of the team that did Cowboy Bebop I believe.

If u cant get it go shoot urself. Its not something that hard to understand! You cant back up ur opinion, u can post pictures, u can say this and that is good etc... but i will still say Anime suck and nothing will ever change it.

You gotta calm down man, your posting on a forum and a forum is used to argue issues and express opinions and ideas. By posting here you have to be open to rebuttels from others, not once did I take a hostile approach and insult you, I clearly stated my reasons and if you didnt read them that doesnt mean they arent there.

dude anime is HOT!!! you must watch several to really understand the full depth of how they are written and presented. anime is written in acts thats why its best to rent or buy the dvds. the matrix was derived in whole or in part from the general concept of all anime therefore it is a segue that dumb americans can and should use to understand the real world of anime. it is really hard to explain why anime is good and that is why knight isnt getting the point across but all you need to do is watch wolf's rain and you may get it. do that before you proceed with your argument to the contrary....

i normally dont like anime either, as its often very shallow in story, has unnecessary nudeness of underaged girls (if you are into child-pornography then this is the legal way to do it i guess) and is often badly done (oversimplified scenes with flashing backgrounds, bad music, bad colours, etc.). But still there are some really great movies, tv-series around that are in my opinion alone worth all the crap thats floating around. Ghost in the shell was, is and will be one of the best anime movies ever and the second one is nothing short of amazing in itself, although i have to watch it again, as i was disturbed along the movie numerous times by telephone and other stuff, so i didnt get the whole story. And as the picture quality was pretty poor i ll rewatch it when the download for the dvdrip is finished...
so in summary, i cant understand people who say, this sucks, or that sucks, as its only their opinion and by over-generalizing they will never find the beauty in an artform that may be bad-looking at first. But i guess people with an attention-span of under 5 minutes dont deserve beauty

if you put it that way, certainly not. Its just that there are too many people on boards like this like skylinegtr for example that notoriously piss off other people because they cant see the others standpoint. And there is a difference between saying all anime sucks and i dont like anime / i think anime sucks. And your comment about critics-wannabes wasnt really near what i would call civilized stating of opinions, but what do i know...
btw. you should give this movie a try as its really good (i m watching a dvdrip of it at the moment)

Well ok for all of those who didnt get my point, i wanna rephrase it.
I dont like anime.
I respect everyone's opinion and i wont say: "hey u like anime ? OMG IT SUCK DONT WATCH its lalalalla..." If you like it good for you.
Lutzifer i said "Critics-wannabes" in general. And belive me, there are a lot of people here trying to act like Critics.

It's like saying "I don't like music".. Huh? There is SOME MUSIC, somewhere, that makes you feel good down to the bones, whether or not your mouth chooses to admit it.
Anime is NOT a genre in itself, it is a method of expressing a genre.
There are animes in every style from horror to drama to romance to science fiction. And in each category they range from piss-poor, to brilliant, just like their live-action counterparts.

I think I had the hawks, the subs were all futuristic looking...
Did they suck? I don't know Japanese, but it seemed
pretty well written, even though i was completely lost much of the time
I like how he quotes the references at the top of the screen that was cool
Funny how some were SOOOO LONG i wanted to take a screenshot of one that made me laugh i think it was literally SEVEN LINES, completely filling HALF THE SCREEN with text, and it only stayed on for like 4 seconds
I need a few more viewings to fully comprehend the dialogue

With an subbed movie/anime that's very complex like this one I just pause it often to read and if necessary, reread the text to fully understand it one watch through.
I know that may be too distracting to the movie for some of you, but it works for me.

The hawk's subs sucked, if you think they were OK you dont watch much subbed stuff, I do and let me tell you they were pathetic.
Dont watch it again to try and comprehend, most of the stuff said was bullshit anyways, they got alot of it 100% wrong, and many of the translated text had nothing to do with what was being talked about.
It ruins the movie to watch that, and its insulting to the film makers too, their entire storyline is butchered by the Hawks, so basically I'm waiting for someone to do it right, or the DVD subs.
