thanks for the great mod CaptainCox!! really miss that on SH4 will try it tomorrow all day... today quite busy here Sad also about the other post about test drive unlimited protection... it seem that is they work more in the crack things can be fixed... and was Vitality hope they will do something for the triggers that SH4 have and release a new crack... seem that these FADE damn systems are doomed and soon will be beaten to death and stay in hell forever!!! aahhh! feel better now LOL

that is why I´m actually don´t using the 1.1 crack... just yasu + daemon thanks to the tips posted here in how to use them well... but hope cracks will win finally and fade will burn.

More and more I´m sure they will never see my $$ in their pockets for unfinished games... in the past the patchs were patchs no like now that are really missing parts of the games... I will don´t pay for be beta tester, finish your games and don´t waste time in those fu$%#$# protection systems... I have plenty of original games here but no more!!! until these change I will be a proud pirate FOREVER!! and I will pass my games to all the people I love so they don´t have to buy them either...

Well this is a bit like "cheating" but I normally go in to "free camera mode" and just fly out to the target and take a closer look before I start the attack run Wink . Now if you playing all set to reality you can't do that and that's just how it was...you have to get up close and pray... ALAAAAAARM!!!!!! ZERSTÖRER!!!!! TAUCHEN!!! Scheiße, ASDIC! Razz

I expected so much better of you then that Captin...Naw I do the same thing lol. Problem with that is at night time its impossible because its so dark on my screen, unless there is a mod for that one too. I did find something that should adress this "Enemy Identify mod by GunMod" but there are no working links that I saw for it.

Marhkimovs Light Night Mod
Quote:
******************************
WHAT IT DOES?
******************************

1. In short, I have altered Beery's sky files in an attempt to make a nicer looking sun reflection on the sea. IMOH, the default reflections were a little too bright, and it made the water look white when viewed from directly underneath of the sun (it looked exactly like milk). So I believe I have adressed that issue quite nicely. See the enclosed screenshots.

2. I also took the liberty of smoothing out the sea and water textures so that everything looks smoother and more blended together.

3. The nights are lighter and more blue than the original SH3. This mod is designed specifically for people who have systems that generally have very dark screens. I have made the skies as light as they will go... Any lighter and you will begin to notice graphical hitches. Trust me, you don't want your nights to be any lighter than this.

TO INSTALL
******************************

1. use JSGME

2. manually place the included files into the correct folder. DON'T FORGET TO MAKE BACKUPS!

LINK Hope that helps Wink

To true m8, playing SH3 had me sweating and shaking with knicker fouling fear as the Brit distroyers hunted me like relentless pit bulls. SH4 on the other hand is a duck shoot and has me fallin asleep, shooting at seagulls and fishing boats just to keep me awake.
Like you I wish I could play as the underdog Japs.

well I don't know as I only did 2 patrols yet so I'm not too far in the game, but in SH3 you also started as the hunter with little opposition and only in the later years of the war you'd become the hunted as the enemy got better sub hunting technology and more escorts.
Are you sure it won't be similar in SH4?

Haven't noticed anything but I just began playing outside the tutorials and I use the clone version, 2d crewmembers with big eyes talking numerical values doesn't soud that bad either but there's probably other stuff as well.

Hm, I cant seem to start the game with the patch. With YASU it doesnt start at all, no little disc spinning or nothing. Just a SH4.exe hanging at the task manager.

Without YASU i get the normal error-message.

Any ideas?

I am using the newest YASU and the newest Daemon Tools.

Could it be that you guys that are having problems booting after the patch all suffered fade previously, though the bad crack.
In other words fade has stuck a big stick up the jacksie of your .exe

In SH3 at night time how can you tell if a ship is enemy or foe? Also how do I know if anything is enemy or foe, they are all gray to me. I sunk what had a British flag on it and in my stats it said it was netrual...

nope I used the clone, patched, and it doesn't work. I got the latest STPD, Daemon Tools and YASU and it's not working.
I also tried reinstalling the game but that didn't help either.
Oh I also disconnected my drives ala starforce but it's still not working.

That is what you call, 'amazingly strange' I never had one hiccup when installing the new patch. It will be good when some genius discovers the reason for this strange behaviour.

True. Unfortunately it's supposedly historically correct that the Japanese have so much difficulty as their technology and skills were simply not good enough for the submarine threat. I'm no expert but this is what a lot of people are saying.

In the interests of gaming however, and through the loss of realism elsewhere (just getting into a submarine is a task in itself, let alone operating one under wartime conditions Wink), the game should be made more difficult. I strolled in and out of a Japanese harbour for crying out loud Very Happy

Modders will do exactly that but I'd be wary of any quick mods that are released to begin with.

Drove around there... nothing... mission not completed then I went to explore little further and found some ships... sunk them and went back the my port... and got mission not completed... so WTF i have to to on a patrol mission... e...

Patrols naturally take a long time to complete given the circumstances of what you are patrolling (the wide open sea) and what you are patrolling for (slow, mechanical behemoths).

Make sure you are patrolling the right area (zoom right in). You can (if you know the area to be quiet) stay stationary and just hit the time compression all the way up for a few days (I think it depends how long) and then cut out of it, move the screen a little and the icon should turn grey indicating completion. Roll on back to port. Of course that won't work in heavily populated waters, and you're bound to get casualties doing it like that but it's an option if you know it's quiet area.

I don't know about you but SH4 is just giving me the need to reinstall SH3 and Gray wolf.
I'm about 2 months into a patrol, refuelled at Midway, and already I've managed to sink 4 small fishing boats that should shorten the war by a few years, nips will go ape without their fish you know.

I personally have found a huge fleet of ships... usually some battle ships and cargo ships...

and dam... when you are damaged and have to go under wanter... you sometimes cant get up again... I was left floating nose up in the middle of nowhere... and there I was nothing happened... I dint sink ...
