£550 just for the PS3. Think for £25 less Play can guarantee a PS3 with 3 games and a HDMI cable.

I got one.. Playing motorstorm which is really good.
Now just hoping that the iso loader will surface soon.
Retail firmware is 1.5 which is said to be hackable!

I've noticed an almost global rule on forums that people who got a PS3 have either never written before (new users) or certainly do not own a 360, thusly their perceptions of the quality or experience with the PS3 and next-gen are baseless and void of perspective.
In other words, they blow their next-gen virgin loads on their 21" CRT tubes and praise it to high hell without knowing ANYTHING about the competition. Which is all for the better, because the launch lineup can barely hold its own even with 100% added fanboyism.

well...
just got mine with resistance.
it's cool, but after playing 360 for a year I'm not impressed.
I guess we'll have to wait for the "real" games that should start in one year or something (maybe end of this one?).
having all the 3 consoles I would say at the moment:
1 - 360 - lots of good games and hacked
2 - ps3 - it can be as good or better than the 360 with the right games (hope it has a loader soon also!)
3 - wii - zelda/mario/metroid playing machine. I have the chip, but It's not installed yet, because there's no reason for it. zero games I want to play on it. maybe paper mario will make me go to the trouble of installing it.

If the PS3 offered something substantially better in terms of capability then there might be an excuse for such a late arrival, and a reason to get one. Why are you defending sony Parallax?
As it is games that come out on both the 360 and PS3, while not differing greatly have a tendency to actually look better on the 360. So you either go with a console which has a wide collection of fantastic looking games, or another console which has hardly any good games and no technical advantage yet is more expensive. It's a no brainer at the moment.
Even when the original xbox came out and offered substantially better looking games then the well established PS2, it still could'nt rival it's sales in any way.
The only people getting a PS3 at the moment are fanboi's and those stupid enough to assume that because it's arrived later, it must therefore be more powerful then the 360.
Thats discounting those people who are loaded and can buy all 3 consoles and not give a shit.

So you have 2 360's for the sake of it or did you have to replace one?

I'm not loaded, I got a job. But I am a gamer, that's why I'm going to own all 3 ..... It's cringe worthy watching some people support a system any system, I mean hardly any of us here actually buy games, so why not own all 3, the best of all worlds

I think because most people have better things to spend their money on. For the average person, or even average gamer, one console is enough. Some people would buy the Wii and one of the other next gen consoles because they offer something different. But owning a PS3 and 360 is rather sad in my opinion.
It's not the same as spending alot on a PC, because they're not only used for gaming.

No problem Animal Mother, I'll enjoy being sad with my consoles ..... And while we make generalisations about what people call sad. In my opinion people with a post count of over 8,000 on a forum, people who not only like an old sci-fi cult/crap classic but has 1 of the saddest/nerdiest members of the cast as an avy I think is very sad. But I'm sure that's just a stupid stereotype right. You're not like that at all, right !!

Why, is there something wrong with that?
The PS3 is still a launch console, and yes, it ain't that great yet - because like the 360 it needs a bit of time to mature. And honestly, I like Sony's open standard approach more than Microsoft's proprietary format bullshit. |

I have a 360, wii and just purchased the ps3.
The 360 got really good games now and the wii just makes me laugh with all the wierd shit. The ps3 has NOTHING in the games department worth spending all that money but of course some really cool games are coming and some of them will be ps3 only. The cool thing is that it runs linux straight out of the box which means total freedom in the media playing department. The 360 is limited to wmv and mpeg2 without an always on pc for on the fly transcoding (is there a pc fast enough to transcode x264 HD to wmv?)
If you wont be using linux on the ps3 there is no reason buying it over the 360 at this stage though...

for the sake of it, 1 downstairs for me and 1 upstarirs for my two eldest boys both GOLD LIVE accounts and both have media center extender setup on them also for streaming xvids and stuff from my pc. The Wii is downstairs cos everyone uses it like my Mrs and my daughter, even me and the two boys again, and now the PS3 for Sony's in house games and any exclusives that come along.

If one works, have a normal income and is a gamer I don't see why one would not have the 3 consoles... It's not a huge investment (for someone with a regular work) and I could not see me wanting to play an exclusive for one of the consoles and not having it!!!!
I'm not loaded but I have 2 360's, PS3, wii, ps2, psp, ds, 2 gamecube, 2 xbox.
I can see not having the gamecubes because I can play gc games (are there any) on the wii, and with 1 360, but all the rest is indispensable for me
