Thats now, but when is a new console coming out? Again a wait of more then 5 years? Hows things with graphics then? |
I'd rather wait 5 years for a new console than being forced to upgrade my PC every two years (which is what i have been doing but now i'm sick of it).And graphics aren't everything.The 360/PS3 graphics may not be on par with those of the PC in five years (but it should still look good on HDTV) but good games are still going to be released for these consoles.Hell , take a look at God Of War II for the PS2.Graphically it may not compare to the Oblivions of this world but it's still one hell of a game even if it was made for an old console like the PS2.
Your point is valid for the graphic whores but fail for everything else.

I know that console graphics is on par with PC graphics now, but not in two years
And even if the consoles had like OMG AWESOME GRAPHICS compared to PC games, the PC would still win the battle without doubt... If consoles had keyboard and mouse then I might have bought a console by now, but until that happens (or rather IF that happens) consoles are not interesting
And I don't care much about graphics, so why should I check out the graphics on all console games? I know that I'll never play them anyway

Consoles have had keyboard and mouse since the PS2 at least - they just aren't that widespread because the majority of games aren't designed for these control inputs. The next Unreal Tournament will fully support them on the console however.

I meant as standard, not something you have to buy extra (and with only few supported games)

Well, you don't have to buy as extra, they have USB slots - just plug in your existing ones. Consoles won't ever have them as the de facto standard control scheme as it's not practical (or even ideal).

I'm finding that I play console games more and more now as PC games just aren't as playable at release as their console counterparts. Just looking at the latest releases such as Armed Assault, Stalker, Silent Hunter etc... they are basically beta's. At least if you get a console game you know you aren't going to be waiting for it to be patched until its playable. Don't get me wrong, I still love PC games and when the above games are fixed properly they will be superb, but it seems like the good games are getting further and further apart.

face it, console = idiot pc. games are dumbed down, made easy with neat control schemes and in the end they will probably sell extra hardware for the console like keyboards and mouses. Turning the console effectively in an pc for idiots. Xbox Live vs PC anyone? A JOKE.
KaiserSoze666: You should check out the GRAW 2 for X360 complaints, hanging, freezing etc. M$ blaming the discs but not the console hah. People return the disc, still same problem ahahaahahah!. So even the XBOX360 with the neat live future ends up in the release first patch later attitude. It just goes slower, since idiots tend to have less patience and toss a console out 
Now, i dont mind playing on a console or on a pc. The PC will always outbest a console with performances in the end. The big difference for alot of people is the easy to use factor. Put the disc in, push the button and play. Thats about it, my friend (not a real pc user) sold his pc because he got tired of tweaking games, getting the hardware requirements etc before being able to play it decently on a PC. He buys a console and voila, he is saved. Most ppl in this world are of his kind, they dont have the time or the skills required to play a game to its full potential on a PC. Thats why the console beats the PC and when XBOX was introduced M$ removed the border between consoles / pc by licensing as many PC TITLES possible for exclusive rights on their console system. The PC users got raped in the end. Don't cry buy a console or try to live with it.
Oh and to stay on topic, GTA IV will be released on PC eventually.

PC gamign = a mess. Look at STALKER. FULL of bugs, patches all over the place, so many tweaks and differences in drivers etc performance issues. With console you just ope n the box, inptu the disk and play max settings every game with no problems.

leave STALKER alone, it's not FULL of bugs. there's some minor issues but it's 200% bugless compared to ArmA or some other open-world shit. Even Just Cause.

wtf !! pc has good graphics yes but hardly any good games,we lucky to get 1 must have game per year when consoles have hundreds of them.
GAMES is what counts in the first place not graphics alone...IMHO if you want the real fun you must seriously consider taking the consoles route.

Ok, sigh. I shall explain the console = idiot pc, since you totally misread it.
A console is a system which has the same capabilities as a PC, more or less. However since it requires less computertechnical skills to make something WORK on it, you dont need to be a geek or wizard to use it. So in this regard, for a console you dont need to be skilled in computers in a sense, that you need specific knowledge to make stuff work on it. In short, an idiot can use a console.

But its not trying to be a PC, its a games console. Its for games, how hard does running a game need to be in your opinion?
Sure people who use PCs might have a better knowledge of how to operate the systems but since when does this equate to anyone not knowing that much about PCs instantly make you dumb. Thats just ignorant internet talk. The fact of the matter is PC games released recently (I would say over the last year at least) have been on the whole a very problematic time. Buggy software and unoptimised games seems to be pushing people to consoles as its simply not worth the frustration of having to wait for patches to resolve issues that shouldn't exist.
I have a PC and a 360 and the fact is that I will probably not be upgrading the PC in the future as the fact of the matter is its not worth it. I have recently got the 360 and I find that being able to play a game like Rainbow 6 Vegas with no game stopping bugs and superb graphics just superb. Couple that with the cat that you have voice comms as standard and with a friends list and coop taken into account its pretty much ideal gaming for me.
I think your last comment really shows that you some kind of elitest vision as to who games should be made for. Who is the idiot, the person who spends thousands to get the latest and greatest computer only to have the game need multiple patches (take any major release in the last year, or week for that matter as an example) or the person that is looking to just play the damn game with friends and not have to worry about how they system will run?

Interesting eh? Think they could really cram multiple cities from previous games into one package?
Would surely be next-gen then.

Dude, give up on protecting the PC. I am an avid PC gamer, I never owned a console. I was protecting PC gaming for so long, but you can't fight it. Consoles are the way to go. Sure, you don't need any skill to play games on a console ( not talking about game difficulty, but lack of installing the game and such), but why would that matter?
There are still a lot of great games on PC, but getting yourself an sweet xbox360 can be a great choice...You don't need an awesome TV, just connect it to your computer monitor and play.

I am looking forward to this game more than Crysis (if it is like farcry it will only last me 48hrs before completion).
I got alot of hours out of the last games in the GTA series so always look forward to more of the same.
Only problem is I am PC only so as usual will have to wait for ages for PC release.

Rather have them concentrate on one city and do it good. I mean cmon a city like NY, ehrm Liberty City is still huge. Millions of people ffs.
Next gen for me is not only about the gfx (even though it looks great), but also the physics, which I hope the Euphoria engine will handle. |
Totally agree, I'd rather ONE completely mindblowing city, than two mediocre but still cool cities. |

youre pretty ignorant if you think thats all it takes to get a pc game running.
install it, config it, worry about a patch if shit is fucked in the game, and most importantly of all have the right system to run it in the first place.
oh and gta is gonna blow if they use this same tired ass formula. gta got old and tired after VC. drive here run there klli the cop kill the gangster. rinse repeat booooooring. |

Vice city was pretty small to begging with so its very possible that they can put it in there, it would be cool to see it in the next gen. Or they could do what they did in SA, just put a very small part of vice city, where you go just for one mission like liberty city in SA.
