Yep and the AI is brutal although it need some minor tweaks (doesn't seem to reinforce captured checkpoints with stationary gun turrets but rather puts Energy Reactors nearby (???).. kinda stupid...)

And yes the Game fully support DirectIP so you can connect via IP addresses so all is good! Very Happy

Do we really need this kind of "discussion"? If you think it's good then I would like to know a little bit about why. If you think it's bad then I would also like to know why. It's not that hard. People are pretty fucking fast throwing out opinions here but there's only about 0.002% of them that are actually worth anything.

Lets see. It has a 89% at gamerankings.com. So you're saying all the reviewers there have low game standards? I hate when people think this. JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK IT'S SUCKS DOESN'T MEAN YOU'RE ALWAYS RIGHT!!!

Anyway doesn't really matter now. He's banned (again).

im not here to talk about you or your problems with other people in here but if someone opened a thread with words like 'this game sucks' without any reason why should not be pissed when people which like the game starts to discuss.

i played the demo since weeks and i play the game since hours and i like it.
its not perfect and not all people will like the story but i see no reason why it sucks.

My two cents on Dawn of War (Please keep in mind that I've only played the tutorial mission , and through mission 3 of the campaign).

First and foremost, I like the overall plotline of the game (the game world if you will, faction wise). The humans are a breed between the marines of SC , but with the loyalty and ferocity of someone out of Gladiator Smile So far, I think they're gonna be my favorite faction.

The voice acting is first rate in my opinion. The actors do a good job of conveying that they really care about what's going on around them, unlike most games. The music, especially the main theme in human campaign, is great, really sets the mood.

Graphics wise the game isn't mind blowing, but on a 10 point scale, I'd give it 8ish. I also love the freeform camera. You don't have to babysit it, as the default view is almost 100% adequate, however the ability to zoom in up close and personal is very very nice Smile

Gameplay wise, although not my FAVORITE style of play in the past, the whole 100% offense mantra this game uses is really starting to grow on me. I honestly haven't played far enough to determine whether or not a defensive style of play willl work, but I don't think so (at least not to the extent of other RTS games, however I could be wrong).

As for the battles, I love them! The ability of your infantry to switch between ranged rifles and melee weapons is just damn wonderful. The battles, although kinda small in size, are really fun to watch, especially up close. Again, they seem to convey a memory of SC battles for some reason (dunno why).

I'm really disappointed of the lack of campaign mode for the other races, they prolly saved this for future xpacks Sad

Finally, as a footnote, before playing this game I was totally oblivious of this so called Warhammer 40k Universe, but it looks really promising.

Overall, I may have been a bit TOO positive in this mini review (prolly cause I've only played it for roughly 3 hours), but I still think this is a good RTS (not mindlowing, but it holds its own), and is worthy of a look if ya like the genre.

OK..for those interested ive been playing single player for a while heres my impressions.

(check out gamespot for the video review which is pretty good btw http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/wh40kdawnofwar/review.html )

First off the opening movie is just fantastic...download the demo if you want to check it out without getting the game.

After that we have a RTS with typical camera controls. You can pan/change angle/and zoom in ALL the way to the ground which is pretty good because the models are pretty well done and aminated. I played the first 4 missions without doing anything but panning around with the arrow keys as everything is pretty visible with the default camera.

Im not a big fan of RTS games because i find myself getting frustrated with micromanaging every aspect of base construction/troop movement etc. With that said this game was able to keep my interest for a while because of a few new gameplay ideas. This game organizes things similar to other RTS games with a few differences.

You still have to build your base when you start and each building allows you to build units or upgrade others. Similar to say warcraft. When you build troops you get a group of 4 instead of just 1. You control the 4 as if they are one unit and you can upgrade certan things with the group. For instance when you have a group selected you can "call reinforcments" which adds members to the group. You can upgrade individual weapons of the group such as plasma gun/rocket launcher/flame thrower/etc which obviously has different effects depending on what your fighting.

There is only 2 resources requisition and power. You get power from building plants and requisition is gained from capturing "points" on the map. The maps are filled with control points which your troops can capture and build from them. The more points you are in control of the faster rate of requisition you get. Which means more unit upgrades/buildings etc while your enemy has less.

So basically when the map starts everyone is trying to get as many control points as possible which means your going to run into the enemy faster. Ive found this to mean more concentration on the action and less on the base building...which can hurt you in the long run if your not able to multitask well.

The game looks pretty good. However if you zoom in things can look a bit flat/bland. but most of the time your not zoomed in so it isnt a big problem. Theres a few little touches that are pretty cool...such as when you build a building it comes crashing down from the sky in some kind of transport pod thing..or flown in from a ship. The units are all animated pretty well. Its nice to see a group of units get blown apart when they get hit by a rocket. The sound/music/voice acting is pretty well done also.

Basically a good game. Even if your not into the RTS genre its worth checking out the demo atleast.

Finaly some great and informative posts, thanks guys...

This is a pretty good game. It has Warcraft 3 feel to it due to same engine, but it's not a bad thing. I like how it's more about working with less units, instead of Starcraft like unit flooding/zerging.... Units using modern/futuristic weapons, like machine guns and rocket launchers also give this game a unique taste... Over all, any RTS fan should give this puppy a shot and see what they think about it...
