And now I ask you pepole, who have quit smoking...do you avoid pubs, bars and nightclubs which are filled with cigarette smoke or say to get lost to a smoker next to you or do you actually secretly enjoy the smell of cigarettes and if someone asks you if he may smoke you'll gladly allow him? Wink

pubs, bars, and nightclubs here are not filled with cigarette smoke, in fact, no place indoors is Wink

Lucky bastards Very Happy

but actually it does not change the meaning of the question...do you enjoy the smell of cigarettes or do you find them repulsive like non smokers?

I found it difficult in the first 3 or 4 months, especially in pubs etc: I did cave in occasionally. Oddly, I found it easier to just have one when I really craved, and because my breath and skin were clean when I did succomb it smelt awfull!

As a consequence it just started to turn me off. I have a young son, and want to be around long enough to see him grow up.

I've found that after 8 months or a year you stop thinking about it completely, and can't bare the smell.

I hate it now. But then I hate litter, people speeding, swearing etc: maybe I'm just getting old, but I find any lack of respect for other peoples shared space and quality of life really pisses me off. Maybe I've grown up, who knows...

I quit smoking about 3 and half an year ago, i only succeeded to do it when fear of a potential serious illness frightened me enough ... i was lucky, it wasn't that feared illness, and so i found myself with a couple of months without cigarettes ... they were terrible to say the truth, even the first year or so was rather awful, i didn't want to see a cigarette in a radius of 10 m from me !
Then slowly i began to feel the benefits and accept the "sacrifice" for my health ... today i feel still attracted by cigarettes, i still would like to take one on my lips but ... wtf while suffering for this thing i'm still rather proud of myself for stopping smoking.

In the last monhts i also begun a diet and while suffering i'm already happy for the initial results ... sigh i don't dare to imagine the next thing i'll have to stop doing ... i hope it won't be ... THAT Smile
