Ascension to the Throne is a turn-based strategy game with RPG elements. In a world of fantasy the hero will have to pass many tests on his way to victory. Enemies seek to stop players from regaining power and having taking revenge, gain new friends to aid you in reclaiming the throne. Become the King you were born to be - wise, brave and courageous.
Players will act as the last offspring of the ancient family, which has ruled Airath for ages. But times have changed and traitorous enemies attacked the castle. They slaughtered his family and destroyed the settlement, but they didn't crush his will. A very powerful spell cast by a magician threw the hero far beyond the borders of the country. He was on his own - without relatives, friends, without an army and without money. He lost everything he was proud of but still he was alive and chose the path of vengeance.
Players will explore a new fascinating world, full of foes and friends. They will have to crush hordes of enemies and find new followers to regain the title and ascend to the throne.
Features:
Quote:
* Combination of real-time movement around the game world and turn-based battles
* Large-scale tactical battles. Up to 20 squads (up to 10 units in each)
* Players are not bounded by separate missions. They can go to any part of the game world and explore it. The game world is integral and players are free to choose any direction
* Original concept. The Hero is the player, and instead of giving orders and watching the battles from a safe place, he participates in them by himself. But remember, that you can easily loose your Hero in the heat of a battle
That freak with the shield looks like he's on his way to a self Flagellation, transvestite, high heeled wearing, knicker sniffing, tongue razor blade juggling, sheep shagging party..
But the game looks ok, but the art work leaves a lot to be desired
Me likey this gamey.
It seems all the interesting games come from Russia lately. Space Rangers 2, Pathologic...
Btw, any news about a better release date than the "2007" posted on the official site?
graphics arent so good as in gothic3/oblivion etc, but the game itself is pretty fun so far after about 2 hours of playing.
you run around like in a rpg and buy some items, units and accept quests (all of them involve fights). then you fight in the style of heroes of might and magic or final fantasy tactics.

Yeah the graphics and kinda bad mostly (I like the character models and textures though) and it's not very polished, but the game sure is fun, at least for me as a strategy RPG fan.

and there are some very hard fights
at least im having troubles in some fights.
yeah I'm dying a lot!
But often I also just lose a character that I want to keep so I load and try again.
The problem is that some big enemy groups make more damage than your hero or other quest characters can take and they often go directly after those characters instead of my damn peasents up front.
Like right now I gotta through one encounter to continue in the story, however, there is a group of 5 archers in that battle, and at their first attack they always one-hit my main character and it's game over. I'll have to try and get another level somewhere so I can survive that.
I guess that will change later in the game when the chracters have more HP, or at least I hope so.

yea its sucks that they most of the time focus your heroes.

It's turn based strategy with roleplaying.
Not very polished, doesnt look very well, but I had quite some fun with this game and actually finished it, and I don't finish a lot of games.

wtf ??? this game is just pure bullshit : u even can't change the control keys frrom the option menu !! . (and there is no .cfg file that u could manually change )
That's what i call "very low budget" game made by morons

Has someone said turn based strategy? I'll give it a try
A homemade short-film (It's a dramatical experimental videoclip-style short, has nothing to do with games!):
Really positive suprise, enjoying this game a lot. Not best graphics but addictive gameplay. Good to see a game that actually is fun even when you don´t know anything about it pre-release.
It actually looks ok but totally unplayable (for me anyway) because the keys are mapped to the ridiculous WASD format.. and There is no way I can play a game with those keys.. and i cannot see a way to change them.. if anyone finds out please post..
Interesting game but it seems I will have to start over due to the autosave saving in the worst possible case and for some funny reason grass takes away nearly all performance despite the game looking rather bad. (Easily disabled though and not much of a problem)
Explored a little and hired the peasants required, got into a fight with a hunter that didn't really see things my way and since it seems most enemies will attack the hero first I lost about half my health to his damn arrows before the peasants killed him off, talked to the peasant right next to him to complete the quest and was somehow automatically pulled into a fight with a gray wolf and a bunch of smaller wolves and as usual they all attack my hero character killing him nearly instantly.
(Autosave saved right in the beginning of this battle and with no way to win I'll have to start over again. - Though it beats getting hanged about 10 seconds or so after the game starts due to acting like a nobleman and watching the loadscreen again)
Ah well could be a fun game similar to Mount and Blade.
this game is suprisingly good, it doesnt look good at all, there is no voice acting what so ever, sounds are meh. but the gameplay rocks. im having a blast with this game, played for abou 4 hours straight.
for those that are bored and like heroes of might and magic gameplay i can easly recommend this game.
This one surprised me, I've been really enjoying it. While it might not be cutting edge in the graphic deptartment I think they did a pretty good job, some of the character models look look very nice.
It can be hard starting out since there isn't a manual, but after a few battles it comes together pretty quick.
I only had trouble at the start with the hero getting killed quick as others mentioned but once you get some frontline troops he starts to level pretty quick. I've just kept him in the back and haven't had him die in quite awhile.
It autosaves before each fight and most the time you can opt out if the fight is to hard. But I save after each fight just to be safe.
I'm not a WASD user either so the lack of key remapping is a bummer, but its not a deal breaker for me considering there arent a ton of keys to use.
