I never realised anyone would take my original comment so literally since your point is so obvious.

If that were so they'd already be totally broke... fucking delay-party over there at Gabe's. I bet STALKER's out first.
vurt: right. even though D³ was massively delayed noone at id ever said "we'll release it september 2003" or something like that.

i'll bet the game is out by 11/01 and this whole hype around re-delay and "six-month-time-to-release" shi* is just as some of you have already said, a feeding of the fire in which HL² burns since late 2003. Vivendi has to follow the rules of capitalism, and when capitalism says: sell this game by christmas-time 2004 or you will lose profit, they will do so cuz they're a company.
question: isn't it possible that people from within the business steal a copy of the goldversion and contribute it to the scene? i think that happened many times (pre-releases) and with that title it's quite probable, innit?
btw i think most of the peeps have forgotten how angry they were last time it was delayed and would be really happy if they game is released by now and all sins will be forgiven - so if it would be delayed again people would be soooo angry by now but when it comes out then in spring 2005 (hahaha that would be too crazy) they would be happy as hell and forgive just everything valve or VUG did wrong just cuz they can play HL².
and everyone who tells me that he wouldn't be intersted in HL² anymore, i don't believe you guys cuz that seems just like a rationalization (psychology) to bear the pain of delay. sry guys when the game is released YOU are the first to get that game, i'm sure.
so look forward to a pre-release or 11/01

sorry but what did you expect from D³? An RPG with a highly complex and dynamic story-line? Have you ever played Doom1 or Doom2? Probably not. Yes, Doom³ IS a tech demo (it's supposed to be one of course), and, it's a pretty well done sequel to D1 and D2. Everyone who's whining about missing features in D³ have no clue imo. It was always meant to be a scary FPS, nothing more, nothing less. Good game. Period.

I dont know, I expect more from my games in the year 2004, the lack of innovation today is sad, and dont say that you cant come up with anything else, theres always new ideas, people are just stuck inside this mold that all games must be exactly the same or they wont sell good.

I liked Doom 3. I just think too many people were expecting to be revolutionary or something. IT'S DOOM! D-O-O-M DOOM! I expected a FPS like the original Doom games and that's what I got and I was happy.

I don't get this thing that Doom 3 was meant to be how it was because it's Doom. It's like saying it's a good game because it was meant to be shit. Doom was released like 10 years ago. I think it is more than fair to expect some sort of progression in the gameplay.
I've never played the original Doom games but I've read that a large part of the attraction was the game threw floods and floods of monsters at you for you to kill. This doesn't happen in Doom 3 at all. It attempts to be a scary shooter and it fails miserably because it attempts to shock you every 30 seconds. They never realised that the shock factor is lost after about the 5th time a monster spawns behind you.
A good game is a game that people enjoy playing. If you have to explain to people what the game was meant to be for them to think it's a good game then it isn't a good game.
Anyway, sorry for the offtopic post, I just think that Doom 3 is one of the most overrated games of the past few years.

its overated because people expected too much from the game when in reality carmack told everyony it was in essence a tech engine. He was just nice enough to create a story to it, thats all, fun for awhile but after that its deleted.

theres a halflife2 review coming this week from pcgamer. if you check out
www.halflife2.net theres a scan of the cover art as one of the staff members has a copy of the mag. theres also a thread discussing the review (but no scans/scores have been posted as of yet)
check it out here
http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=39707&page=1&pp=40
ps i hate to contribute more "news" about this game regarding reviews/release dates etc as im sure alot of you are sick of it. however im also sure theres a few of you interested. it will be more interesting when someone posts some scans or gives us a score (which will be very high considering the "exclusives" and such)

i haver never experienced that reading a review has ruined a game for me.
i mean they never put essential parts of the story in it. just referring to a good or bad storyline, atmosphere, graphics, physics, gameplay, difficulty, feeling, sound, at least the magazines that i read so far ... this just will make you more horny than you are right now i bet!
please can someone bring a scan of this review for us that can't buy an issue of PC Gamer

If you are part of the CS:S beta and you have gotten the most recent patch that was huge! then you already have phase 4: Phase 4 was the CS:S preload basically.

That single dvd sure sounds tempting though.
Id hate having a box with 6cds, swapping discs is a bitch.
