Almost a year old... who knows what could have happened since then.
I'm personally rooting for a NON-mmo.

I think we can all agree on one thing though.. NO ONE wants to see them announce another WoW expansion... there would be rioting in the streets if they were that lame on the 19th.

Might as well start dealing with it now, it's gonna be world of starcraft. If people actually buy into this crap I'd lose all faith in humanity and hope that some other species quickly evolves and kills us off before our stupidity destroys the universe.

Well a Starcraft MMO might be that bad... If they implent a feeling of war and chaos and dynamic combat in the trenches and on huge battlefield, then why not?

Predecessor was the best RTS ever made IMO.
However I'm not sure if it can be titled a predecessor yet, I find it hard to believe we'll see anything, definitely not soon.

World of Warcraft isn't that bad. it's addictive yes.
Diablo multiplayer was somewhat of a MMO (Guild War-esque), and wasn't bad at all.

First M from MMO stands for "Massive"... In Diablo2 its 8 players max, if that's massive for ya then go ahead.

You mean a multilayer game with SP elements.
It is an MMO its just not a PERSISTENT MMO. There are after all a massive amount of players playing online. Over 1 mil at least.
But that's beside the point:
The reason most people Hate WoW is simply (SIMPLY) because its P2P. It is not a bad game. It has never been a bad game. Its an MMO. You have the leveling and the end-game. The leveling might be kidnda boring, and like an average to above average action RPG if you don't pay attention to the story (which if you don't look for, you won't find) and the end game is a whole other game with raids and huge dungeons.
But the thing is, its P2P. Which means most people here don't play. As we pirate games for the most part. Meh. If you are gonna knock on a game you haven't played, knock on it for most substantial reasons.

Saturday 5-May-2007 2:00 PM Blizzard's new sci-fi MMO is set to rock the world later this month, sources tell CVG
24 CommentsThe long-rumoured new instalment of Blizzard's massive StarCraft series is set to be unveiled later this month - and it's another massively-multiplayer online game in the style of World of Warcraft, CVG learns.
Well placed US sources have revealed to us that the StarCraft MMO will be unveiled at an upcoming Blizzard event on May 19 in South Korea - the epicentre of the sci-fi RTS series' rabid fandom.

I don't know how legit that site is but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. Is anyone else not surprised? All this mmo bullshit is easy money so why spend all this time and money redesigning the rts genre when you can slap some new junk on the old mmo engine and call it scmmo?
Just waiting until the 19th when blizzard officially confirms that they have no class whatsoever.

The new stuff that is going to be announced is not going to be related to any of the previous Blizzard games. Now lets wait and see if my source is accurate.

Meh. I don't know why people are getting all worked up over Devs going the MMO route. If you want them to 're-design' the <put your genre here> genre, then you have to know that the only way to do so is money. When they have money they can takes risks. When they have something that will ALWAYS bring money then they can take even more risk. Because of WoW, if Blizz REALLY wanted to, they could try something new, and if it failed, no worries, WoW is there to give us money.
Sure its annoying, sure you don't like it (since most of you can't or won't play) but its biz. Money is needed for everything and anything that makes money is golden.

Could be quite awesome.
