fanboy alert ? its not like they produced alot of R600 cards 6 months ago and waited 6 months for drivers , maybe you need to get real man .

unoptimized 8800 drivers or not , nvidia had 6 months , i wouldnt mind comparing a 2900xt in 6 months with a 8800gts with current drivers .

Rolling Eyes They had the card for a long time... One of the reasons they provided for delaying the cards was to deliver superb drivers. Rolling Eyes

And to tell you the truth, after seeing the benchmarks, I do feel like a fanboi, even with the crappy Vista drivers and all.

quote someone from ATI saying that or i call bullshit .

they had a prototype in january but decided to redesign from scratch , so its a very different card now .

How is he a fanboy? Just cause he was smart and bought a card that actually works? Who the fuck cares if it doesn't or does perform...the fact it needs a nuclear reactor to use the fuckin thing is ridiculous especially with the shit performance and price. Kinda funny your calling him a fanboy yet your jumping in the fanboyism and defending ATI Laughing Rolling Eyes

And oh NOEZ he's the lose cause you can't google on your own?

what does it have to do with him having a card that works or not? or that it needs more power then a GTS ? and its a big jump from the x1900 series so the performance isnt crap ...

as stated the drivers need to mature , he said ati delayed for 6 months to work on drivers suggesting the drivers can be compared to the 8800 drivers worked on for 6 months , which is simply wrong , if you google you will find out that the whole card was redesigned and that production began in April , thats the reason for the delay .

Actually the card was in development for over 4 years, 6 months provides ATi/AMD absolutely nothing in terms of changing architecture/design. What hit shelves today is exactly what they have been cooking + Multimedia "features" that were added in an attempt to make the card more appealing.

But why on earth would you put a hair drying in your living room.

Hot damn I'm being biased, maybe because I am feeling the joy of not regretting buying a 8800GTX right now! Laughing

Dude, first, creating the drivers was only one of the reasons AMD pushed the release date back. Second, nVidia's drivers for Vista ARE NOT MATURE, as in COMPLETE CRAP! nVidia has stated that the current drivers are not optimized for performance at compile time, so how am I a fanboi for pointing out that when nV starts optimizing it will completely outdwarf that R600 crap?

KrAzY-KaMeL, damn man, I feel the same! I had my doubts when I ordered the 8800GTX, but not I'm relieved...

there is a driver conflict. because 2900 is showing a lot better results at resolution 2560x*** (sorry, mistaked with the 1920 one) than others, which is a little bit utopic resolution for us, right? but in normal resolutions it's not that great

review sites are saying the card is stuck behind drivers atm.

This thread is lol.

Wether or not ATI's drivers are shit and the card will run better once they sort the drivers does'nt really matter.
Unless they can do something with the drivers that blows the 8800 out of the water it will be to little to late.
Even if they can make it on a par with the gtx its still 6 months to late.

Yeah Leo, I'm very relieved also. When you think about it, the 8800GTX must have broken some record for maintaining the performance crown for the longest period of time. What is it? 7 months and running and it's still yet to be outclassed. That's crazy! Especially in the Graphics card market.

I can now commend all those people who bought it in November during it's launch as they've had 7 months of gaming at it's best.

While I'll agree it's simply cause ATI didn't put anything out. I personally think nvidia put the card out even though it had broken drivers cause they secretly knew ATI wasn't gunna be quick about getting their shit out. So with the release of the 8800 I'm sure they took quite a bit of the ATI population. That's just my theory though.

Just read the review on gamespot, man, single 8800gtx even beats TWO fastest r600 cards in crossfire at certain tests. Sure the drivers aren't mature yet I guess, but I tought this card was going to be MUCH faster.

Anyways, I'm so glad I got an 8800gtx. Suck me ATI lovers, I never went wrong with nVidia.
