Quote:

May 14, 2007 - We all remember Serious Sam and the first time we got blasted by screaming guys with bombs for heads. We know how absorbed we were the utterly frantic first-person shooting insanity Croteam was able to create, and we're certainly interested in what they're up to now. Today they've announced an untitled new project to be published by Gamecock Media Group, which will apparently release sometime in North America in 2009 for the PC and "specific next-gen consoles," according to the press release. The new game is being built with Croteam's own Serious Engine 3. Please note, this is not Serious Sam 3, but an entirely new intellectual property.

Some screens that are prob just photoshops and nothing to do with what the game is going to look like

this part mainly made my nipples hard...

Quote:

For those curious about Serious Engine 3, here are some technical specs from the press release: "The Serious Engine 3 is a ground-up reworking of Croteam's proprietary game creation system, designed to fully exploit next-generation consoles and state-of-the art PC hardware. The systems' advanced multi-core HDR-rendering graphics system supports full per-pixel lighting and shadowing (including shadowbuffers) and boasts a custom GPU-accellerated baker for GI lightmaps. The system also incorporates a custom multi-threaded physics solver designed for better performance on multicore CPUs and built-in support for action-game models - such as FPS characters - which allows them to naturally interact with other physical objects."

I liked the first Serious Sam, it was good fun for its time, but Serious Sam 2 sucked balls. I much more prefer the style of Painkiller.

Serious Sam 2 is one of the best Coop games ever created.

If they could bring something similar to the Killzone E3 trailer to life that would be a great accomlishment.

True, their engines are reasonably optimised (and PC oriented). We need more of that.

What we can say for now is that it's a 'military tactical-action shooter', which is powered by our Serious Engine 3 technology. The game is set in the present; with 'in your face' action and requiring gamers to think before shooting. The technology allows the player the impression that he is at the very heart of the action. Audio-visual components of the game will encompass modern warfare using realistic, bloody and violent moments together with 'fast-paced' action. Using the Serious Engine 3, the game will have a lot of detail, from realistic metal materials, to the 'cloth' system to animated character faces.

Well, think-before-you-shoot isn't exactly Croteam's signature. Laughing

I liked all the Serious Sam parts aswell, whereas the real fun was in coop as already stated. However, I liked the very first one the most, second encounter was fun aswell but not as good, and Serious Sam 2... meh, it was fun but you could really really feel the console version in it... it felt so... spongy? It clearly was for PCs and everything, but one could feel it somehow.

Wouldn't be much point of Croteam not to include it imo, as that is what made them famous.

I never liked Painkiller. Stupid game.
Move to one room, the room closes, 500 enemies comes for you, kill them, move 10 meters, next room, room closes, 500 enemies comes for you...
Got EXTREMLY boring and repetetive after 2 levels. Serious Sam at least had some variation that made it fun.

I beg to differ between Painkiller and Serious Sam in this department, it was all the same! What made Painkiller cooler was a bit of physics and imo a better atmosphere.

In the end it's all a matter of what you like. Dark, gothic atmosphere or a colorful game.
