i'm probably waiting and taking one or two 1gb xtx version, because 1gb may be pretty much required for new upcoming games that use large textures. for example quake wars megatexture technology using a texture of 32768×32768 pixels. - i dunno if g80's 768mb is enough to draw it.

I believe Quake Wars uses streaming technology for their megatexture, as with everything else. So no need for 1gb on your video card.

Upcoming PC games 2009 and onwards
Bravery is not a function of firepower.

Eh I hate that game so it never comes to mind. but ya that'd be a good one too. I still think FEAR still beats it when you turn soft shadows on. God thats a GPU killer

nvidia released doc some time ago:

basically we can say that amd (ati) built so called "future" gfx (or its concept) and too soon, so drivers can't use its potential yet.

The questions is, can they make the right drivers, and is a special game support needed for peak performance? If the latter is true, than the card is doomed in the long run because writing special code just for this line of cards is nonsense. Some will do it, sure, but in the long run they are doomed.

Im just hope they get SOMETHING fixed. I'm not buying the card but I'm an AMD cpu fan regardless of intel kicking the bloody shit out of their X2's. If/When I upgrade to AMD they have better damn well get there shit together and get a new fucking structure. Buddy of mine said they got a new structure for later this year..I hope he wasn't bsing me.
