The whole TBS/RTS-discussion is kind of pointless to be honest. Best would be to just use the engine they used in Fallout Tactics. You could choose between old-school TBS, "active" TBS and realtime. That way everyone is happy. Stupid to not include TBS because it's a big part of Fallout.

I only asked for one game.
What im trying to say is that for each 1 TBS game, there is 20 RTS games released and still people get mad if 1 game is TBS instead of RTS.
Anyway as javlar said, this discussion is pointless. I like TBS and most people like RTS.... good.

I adored the original 1+2 fallout games, Tactics was also pretty good, but maybe it's time to let them rest in peace. I'm hoping Bethesda will give us a great post-apocalyptic world with better graphics than Oblivion and enough RPG elements to make it a deep and rewarding experience.
Also, since they don't have to develop a new engine, I believe it won't be bug-ridden and it should be out in 2008 ... |
Read between the lines, it's Oblivion with guns.

You're an idiot to even have hope they won't.
It is going to suck.
It can't be anymore clear.
Bethesda has already had its way with Fallouts corpse, all they have left to do is judge morons for admission. |
Just because you think its a doomed project there is no need for namecalling imo.
It might turn out to be shite, but atm nobody know so we might aswell wait and see.

Neeson will play the role of the player’s father and will appear prominently throughout the game. Fallout 3 is currently under development at Bethesda Game Studios, creators of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion®, which won numerous Game of the Year and RPG of the Year awards in 2006.
“This role was written with Liam in mind, and provides the dramatic tone for the entire game,” said Todd Howard, Executive Producer of Fallout 3. “Liam is absolutely amazing to work with.”
Neeson is known for starring roles in blockbuster films such as Schindler’s List, Star Wars: Episode I, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Batman Begins. Throughout his illustrious career, Neeson has been the recipient of numerous honors for his work in film and theater, including Academy Award, Golden Globe and Tony Award nominations.
“It’s been a pleasure bringing the father to life and working with the wonderfully talented people at Bethesda on Fallout 3,” said Neeson. “I hope the fans of the franchise and the game will be excited by the results.”

Okay...I won't judge it yet, they might do it right, but this counts as a bad side for the game in my book. Why?
1st because it's same as they did with Oblivion, and it might be the first sign of things to come, OB with guns.
2nd is because I don't like having famous actors for main characters, coz then I don't feel like I'm talking to Emperor Tiber Septim, but instead like talking to Cptn. Jean Luc Picard, for example.

3rd . I rather see that money invested somewhere else. This is purely to hype the game ( just like spending lots of cash on FMV sequences). It's not something that the buyer/player benefits from in any way in the end.

Depends on...I'd rather see something with nice 3d graphics that actually use my computer fully than some dos looking game. It's all a matter of personal taste imo..some want 3d - some don't.

Bethesea making good games?
Depends on what you want in a game imo...
Bethesea makes good Graphical games... and then sells their engine, imo.
Oblivion etc had lots of items and quests but it never really took the step out into what Fallout was.
Fallout gave you option upon option. 1 quest could have 2-3 solutions, instead of go here find this.
No i dont think fallout 3 will be any good at all in the dev hands of Bethesea. It might look awesome, but it will have no story and no character interaction worthy of Fallout 1 and 2.
Just wait and see i guess.

Dont fuck with Morrowind and Oblivion, they got a really cool story, if you just play like youre playing GTA thats your problem, but some people we play the game making the quest and knowing more about the story of the game. And i dont think Fallout 3 will be like TES games, it will be a very extend world like this games, but it will have a more focus concept based in the older fallouts. I hope... xD

it's you who's playing it like gta
if you'd play it like, say, fallout, you'd see how ridiculously hollow the mechanics are

it was full of potential that they butchered, raped, spit on, and then locked up in some undisclosed cellar, never to be seen or heard of again.
at least that last f³ pic leaves room for some hope.
