They didn't actually "walk right in" they either have to spend some time "breaching" the door or one of your workers let them in while they were buying some TNT.

AND if you put your base on Alert Level Red all your guys will attack enemies on sight, the problem with this is often one worker guy attacks a whole group of soliders ><... Good thing workers are cheap huh? Smile

I suspect this will be different with the ability to make traps Smile

And you can put security cameras and sirens and better security doors etc..

The demo really doesn't show much of what you can do in the game.

Yeah I found the demo to be pretty small, and alot of good options are not in the demo.
But EG is coming this Sept, so soon we will see it:)

this game is sorta like theme hospital, it all depends on layout (how you design your 'dungeon').
if you put the illegal stuff behind a hallway with lots of security doors (the kitchen, money storage & freezer are legal rooms which the agents will not blow up), the agents will get annoyed that they cant get trough 3-4 doors and eventually leave.
i hardly had to kill anyone after ive build it with a decent layout, and the alert level was always set to green.

well the full version includes the world map...so you can plan and launch missions from inside your evil lair and then carry them out WHILST at the same time still looking after your lair and killing invading agents, doing research on new technologies e.t.c and its out in the US in 18 hours woohoo.
the demo sucked donkey balls agreed!, but the full version do not. Theres no "swarming" in the full version either if you can manage to keep your lair well hidden no agents will come at all Twisted Evil . Well lets discuss and anticipate the soon to come release 18 hours

Sadly the review at gamespot hasn't painted a great picture of Evil Genius - what a shame.

Thanks - Still not sure - let's say it has fallen a few notches down the ever growing list of things I must play before I die - sadly Doom3 and Deusx 2 and in front of it at this stage - who has the time?

Speed

- An after thought on that. I don't know about you - but I have a wife and kids - and I keep thinking how good it would be to even have a weekend free so I could get lost in a few big games I’ve been hanging to fully explore (Homeworld 2 anyone). But the irony is that when she does take off - the last thing I want to do is play computer games. So I’m stuck hanging around warez game boards - talking and waiting for the release of games that I know I’ll never play.

I must get a new hobby - game collection isn't that sensible for someone in my position.

yea, this game is looking like a big letdown.

when i first heard of it, i could not wait to check it out, but now.... whatever.

with ground control 2, warhammer 40k, Doom3, Sims 2, and half-life 2 nearly here, just off the top of my head, why would i bother with this?

if it had multilplayer, it would be a no brainer hit, as it appears to me to owe its direct lineage to the great Dungeon Keeper 2.

but they apparently left it out, and it appears it will retail at $50; screw that!

The game rocks its got all the elements i've missed. "lair management" research, building, planning missions and sorting out your "away team" equipment x-com style, feels they threw some syndicate, dungeon keeper, theme hospital, x-com and added the james bond universe and mixed it all up good, what a nice cocktail it turned out to be Very Happy. Also add the prospect of being evil and of course conquering the world. Oh they also included a level editor, so its possible to design your own islands for your "lair" and practically creating a whole new game should you feel like it, though the ai editing tools are proprietary Evil or Very Mad but you can edit the game "on the fly" as you go. So get this great game its out in the US and some european countries now.

The gamspot reviewers main complaint is that you don't have direct control over your units. That was one of the best things about dungeon keeper and I loved that. Can't wait for this.

i suggest looking at gamespy's review instead, since gamespot got alot of errors in their review, and by that i mean tehy judge the game by things that just aren't true in the game
you cant posses your minions in this game as you could in dungeon keeper, but in dungeonkeeper only way you could earn money was to dig for it. in this game you can have a small "front" business or do away missions. Also Dungeon keeper didnt have a system which would tell you how evil you are, and how other "factions" would regard you and perhaps join you. in that sense this game is more strategic, whereas dungeon keeper was only limited to the level you were currently playing. True this game is also very limited "in the beginning" that is when you have completed the "training campaign" the game opens and you can do what you like. Twisted Evil
